Job Role:
The successfulcandidate will work as part of a national, decentralised but cohesive team, supporting Military spouses and partners of still serving and ex-service personnel (Veterans) in Scotland, to build confidence, gain new skills, and enter sustainable employment. Delivery of onsite and online employability workshops to groups and manage a caseload of Families clients providing one-to-one bespoke personal development and career guidance and support.
This is a full time, 35 hours per week with a salary of £28,500, with Home/hybrid working, onsite (Helensburgh), and outreach throughout the region covering, but not restricted to, Glasgow and Edinburgh.
Key Responsibilities:
- Be a positive ambassador for FEC: work within policies and professional boundaries.
- Deliver employment skills training (in-person group and online workshops, and bespoke one-one), to include: CV writing, Job Search, LinkedIn training, Interview coaching, and empowerment.
- Assess client needs, using Outcomes Star and motivational interviewing techniques.
- Provide advice and guidance to help develop SMART Action Plans.
- Engage with training providers and employers to identify opportunities that meet clients’ requirements aligned with Action Plans.
- Support applications for additional funding/grants as necessary.
- Work with FEC Employer Engagement to develop employer partnerships, broker volunteering, work experience, and job opportunities for clients.
- Make appropriate referrals to other military charities or services for wider needs.
- Collaborate with FEC Employment Advisors across all programmes and with external stakeholders to optimise client support and services.
- Obtain client case studies to demonstrate FEC impact to funders, partners, and stakeholders.
- Undertake networking and engagement to raise FEC profile and generate referrals.
- Work with FEC Comms Officer to promote programme events and activities.
- Maintain accuracy and integrity in all interactions with our online CRM system (Salesforce), adhere to FEC work instructions and funder reporting requirements. Monitor and record milestones, employment placements, other positive outcomes, and document the client journey on Salesforce.
- Complete all role related mandatory and CPD training; attend staff conference and training events.
- Undertake other related ad hoc tasks as required by the line manager or SLT.
PERSONAL SPECIFICATION
Essential Competencies:
- An effective team player with the desire to make a difference to people's lives.
- Evidence of working in a customer facing environment and delivering excellent service.
- Experience of working in a performance, outcomes driven environment.
- Strong organisational, time management, and CRM admin skills.
- Driving licence and exclusive use of a car; there may be travel throughout associated with supporting military spouses and partners.
- Empathy with Armed Forces community and an understanding of the challenges faced by forces family members in finding appropriate and sustainable employment.
Desirable Competences:
- A good understanding of the employment market, including recruitment, welfare to work provision, work-based learning, and vocational training.
- NVQ L4 in Advice and Guidance and/or Award in Education & Training.
- Coaching/mentoring experience.
- Knowledge of Safeguarding principals.
- Experience of workshop facilitation or teaching background.
Security Clearance:
- Successful candidates will require an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service (EDBS) check and Police Vetting.
