Job description

FORWARD is the African women-led organisation working to end violence against women and girls (VAWG). From female genital mutilation and child marriage to domestic and sexual violence, we tackle abuse and discrimination – enabling African women and girls to have the dignity, health and equality they deserve.

FORWARD is seeking an enthusiastic and committed Community Programme Officer who will support the development, planning, implementation and monitoring of FORWARD’s UK community engagement work to tackle female genital mutilation (FGM), other forms of VAWG and support the health and wellbeing of those affected. As the Community Programme Officer, you will have a proven track-record of group facilitation skills, working with minority community women and groups. You will have good knowledge of working with Black, Ethnic and Minority communities on women’s empowerment, VAWG, FGM, health and support work. The role will be largely remote with some outreach events.

Job Purpose

  1. To mobilise and oversee FORWARD’s community support and advocacy services.You will monitor the strategy, programme planning and delivery of the community and related training programmes and manage the delivery of projects; monitor progress towards targets.
     
  2. You will have some responsibility for fundraising, budgeting, financial management, financial control and reporting to funders. You will also oversee the implementation of FORWARD’s strategic goals and community projects.

 As part of the recruitment and selection process the FORWARD will undertake DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service) checking of all individuals who will work directly with children and vulnerable adults.
