Job description

Fourth Monkey is looking for an experienced, passionate and enthusiastic Course Administrator to join the dynamic staff team based at their North London centre.

The administrative point of contact for students and practitioners in all aspects of the day-to-day running of the courses, the Course Administrator will provide key support and management in evolving internal processes and systems related to the smooth running of the academic team’s work, as well as to student services and support infrastructure, and they will be experienced in supporting teaching and academic staff through the administration of course and student information.

Fourth Monkey Actor Training Company is a drama school, arts organisation and registered charity, located at a dedicated training base in Finsbury Park, North London and established in 2010. The organisation has evolved rapidly over the last decade and, since marking our ten-year anniversary in 2020, Fourth Monkey's drama school offering has experienced significant growth - our two-year training course has received accreditation from our degree-awarding partner, Falmouth University, to become the BA (Hons) Acting Accelerated Degree, and we have added the newly accredited CertHE Acting & Theatre Making and MA Collaborative Theatre courses to our training provision. 

As Fourth Monkey head further into our second decade as a leading drama school, arts organisation and registered charity, we are now recruiting for a variety of new opportunities to support our ongoing growth and evolution and to join the collaborative, dynamic staff team based at our North London centre. 

About the Course Administrator role

We are looking for a passionate, enthusiastic and experienced Course Administrator to join our team and support us on our ongoing journey. The successful candidate will play a vital role in helping Fourth Monkey achieve its organisational objectives, including providing essential support to the Director of Training and senior teaching team in developing, improving and integrating systems and processes associated with the school’s academic, programme and student support services, providing effective, professional guidance and signposting to students on a range of issues including welfare and well-being, academic progression or assessment, and being an excellent administrator with previous experience of working within the Higher Education sector.

Key aspects of this new role within the Fourth Monkey team will include:

  • Course development and student development, including being one of the first points of contact for students and practitioners in all aspects of the day-to-day running of Fourth Monkey's courses 
  • Practitioner liaison and management, including supporting the Director of Training and Head of Training to set standards for practitioners, and monitor and evaluate accordingly (in relation to performances and training), plus ensuring effective and appropriate contractual arrangements are in place with practitioners and associates
  • Course management and coordination, including reporting and documenting of student progress reports and assessments in liaison with the Director of Training and our academic partners; responding to enquiries from students and staff as necessary and appropriate, creating and maintaining student / graduate records and maintaining a comprehensive database of tutors, practitioners and associates.

The successful candidate will have at least 2 years’ experience of working in an administrative role, ideally within a Higher Education institution or charity, a proficiency in Customer Relationship Management (CRM) and Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) systems plus demonstrative rigour in reporting and administrative management. They will have excellent communication skills (written and verbal), excellent attention to detail plus organisational skills, experienced in both Apple & Microsoft operating systems and an awareness and experience of pastoral and welfare support or training in an educational setting. They will possess an awareness of Higher Education learning / arts training environments, and excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively as part of a small team as well as independently.
