Fourth Monkey is recruiting a  Training & Academic Services Officer to join the dynamic staff team based at their North London centre. The ideal candidate will be a proficient administrator with previous experience of working within the Higher Education sector, and will provide essential support to the Director of Training and senior teaching team in developing, improving and integrating systems and processes associated with the school’s academic, programme and student support services, as well as providing effective, professional guidance and signposting to students on a range of issues including welfare and well-being, academic progression or assessment.

Fourth Monkey Actor Training Company is a drama school, arts organisation and registered charity, located at a dedicated training base in Finsbury Park, North London and established in 2010. The organisation has evolved rapidly over the last decade and, since marking our ten-year anniversary in 2020, Fourth Monkey's drama school offering has experienced significant growth - our two-year training course has received accreditation from our degree-awarding partner, Falmouth University, to become the BA (Hons) Acting Accelerated Degree, and we have added the newly accredited CertHE Acting & Theatre Making and MA Collaborative Theatre courses to our training provision.

About the Training & Academic Services Officer role

We are looking for a passionate, enthusiastic and experienced Training & Academic Services Officer to join our team and support us on our ongoing journey. 

Responsible for managing and administering the academic services within the charity’s drama school offering, this Training & Academic Services Officer role will be the point of contact for students seeking professional guidance and signposting on a range of issues (both academic and personal). They will provide key support and management in evolving internal processes and systems related to the smooth running of the academic team’s work, as well as to student services and support infrastructure, and they will be experienced in supporting senior teaching and academic staff through the administration of programme and student information. They will also be a primary academic point of contact for our academic partners whilst supporting the Director of Training / Head of Training and their team in the development of the courses.

Key aspects of this new role with the Fourth Monkey team will include:

  • supporting the Director of Training and Heads of Courses in the development of courses and administration of the approval and validation process where necessary
  • student development including being first point of contact for academic partners
  • practitioner liaison and management, and course management / coordination to help maintain and develop a high calibre cohort of practitioners and industry professionals to deliver Fourth Monkey's training provision
  • day-to-day student liaison, including management and overview of student attendance and being students' first point of call for signposting toward the relevant channels in relation to all training and pastoral needs. 

The successful candidate will have at least 2 years’ experience of working in an academic services role at a senior level, ideally within a Higher Education institution or charity, a proficiency in Customer Relationship Management (CRM) and Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) systems and demonstrative rigour in reporting and administrative management. They will possess a strong understanding of data privacy standards as well as solid communication skills (both written and verbal), a deep understanding of business principles and practices, excellent attention to detail and organisational skills (planning, analytical skills, critical thinking), strong computer skills and an understanding of Higher Education procedures, data processing and reporting.
