Clinical / Counselling Psychologist – Training and Capacity Builder
Hours: 17.5 hours per week
Salary: £18,544 per annum (FTE £37,087 per annum pro rata) plus generous holiday entitlement, pension scheme and group life assurance
We are looking for Clinical / Counselling Psychologist – TCB to join our multidisciplinary team. The purpose of this role is to provide a psychology service to adults who are survivors of torture and organised violence through individual or group therapy, offering a range of interventions. In addition, you will contribute to the development and delivery of internal and external training, and will provide consultation to external professionals who work with survivors of torture and organised violence. The role will include offering supervision to psychology trainees and potentially also to approved volunteers.
Freedom from Torture is dedicated to healing and protecting people who have survived torture. We provide therapies to improve physical and mental health, we medically document torture, and we provide legal and welfare help. We expose torture globally, we fight to hold torturing states to account and we campaign for fairer treatment of torture survivors in the UK.
Our team of dedicated professionals provide direct support to survivors including psychological therapy, physical health services, legal and welfare support, and expert medical reports for use in survivors' asylum claims. We also support other providers to deliver high quality rehabilitation services to survivors.
It is important that the successful applicant has experience and a working knowledge of legislation affecting asylum seekers and refugees e.g. asylum, housing, benefits. It is also essential to have awareness of the needs of asylum seekers.
