Contract: 12 months

Hours: 7-14 hours per week

Salary: Unpaid (we can contribute towards reasonable travel and lunch expenses)

We have an exciting opportunity to join our Welfare team at Freedom from Torture.

About us

Since 1985 Freedom from Torture has been the only UK human rights organization dedicated to treating and supporting torture survivors who seek refuge in the UK. We do this primarily through psychological therapies but also services which document torture forensically, practical legal and welfare support and creative groups.

About the role

The purpose of the role is to support welfare advisors to deliver and provide welfare advice and assistance to clients at Freedom from Torture. This will include but is not limited to offering advice and support to clients on asylum support, housing, transition following a grant of status, welfare benefits, health access, destitution and other welfare related matters, including advising clients on their rights and entitlements in these areas.  In return we offer a comprehensive training and induction programme with ongoing support and supervision throughout the placement

About you

This is a new role within a busy and dynamic team and will suit an individual who enjoys using initiative and problem solving skills in an interdisciplinary environment.  We intend the role to be varied and will seek to support development and learning.
