Job description

Are you a passionate, committed justice activist with significant experience in developing and supporting grassroots activists?

We are looking for candidates across North of England - North West, North East or Yorkshire and Humber for an excellent opportunity that has arisen for a Grassroots Development Coordinator to join Friends of the Earth on a 9 month contract. The role will be 35 hours a week for a minimum of 6 months (which could be extended) but will reduce after that to 17.5 hours a week for the remainder of the contract as part of a job share role. 
 
As Grassroots Development Coordinator you’ll be responsible for supporting our grassroots movement in the Northern Regions to grow and develop, ensuring the network is able to campaign effectively.  
 
Working closely with regional Campaign Organisers, you’ll train and support existing activists and local groups whilst identifying new areas to build and strengthen the movement across the North.  
 
You’ll have a solid understanding of how people-powered movements are built and grown, as well as in-depth knowledge of a variety of activism approaches, including innovative online & offline methods. You’ll be a confident facilitator with experience in developing training and coaching programmes for activists.  
 
You’ll also be a passionate advocate for bottom-up, people-powered movements, ensuring the voices of grassroots activists are at the centre of Friends of the Earth.  

This role covers the North West, Yorkshire & Humber and North East regions.
