Essential qualities:

• Proven success in a similar role, with a track record of securing income through multi-year partnerships.
• Strong relationship management skills, particularly within the corporate sector.

The senior member of staff is responsible for ensuring the decisions of the Board are acted upon and the charity meets the legal and regulatory requirements of a CIO. The key focus will be on development of new income streams as we navigate challegnes across the site. The General Manager will oversee the implementation of the new Buisness Development Plan. Support the team of volunteers in project managment and fundraising to support the ambitions of the Board. HR management and financial control will be an important part of the role.

This important role will represent FareShare Sussex & Surrey engaging with corporate partners and key stakeholders such as council leaders, politicians and dignitaries across the region. 

Using your experience in engagement and relationship management you will work to consolidate existing partnerships and seek new opportunities across Sussex & Surrey, working to build strong relationships locally and encourage partnership, donations, sponsorships and corporate volunteering. • Act as main point of contact for existing corporate partners and stakeholders

• Build strong relationships through a stewardship programme to engage with partners in a variety of ways on a regular basis

• To provide the highest quality supporter care, working in partnership with the business to engage with its staff, maximising fundraising and retain support for the long term

• Support with engaging FareShare national partners where required

• Capture feedback from businesses to adapt our propositions

New Business

• Work closely with the Development Team to identify new business opportunities (including charity of the year partnerships) and to develop new relationships with stakeholders across Sussex and Surrey

• To research and approach companies to maximise fundraising opportunities,Develop and promote sponsorship opportunities and corporate partnership offerings

Reporting and Monitoring

• Provide regular reporting for trustees and the Development Team

Working environment and benefits

This role is primarily home based, with an expectation to travel freely across your designated region (travel expensed), plus occasionally travel to other parts of the country for team meetings, training and to support the wider team.

We're looking for a Shop Support Manager! This is an exciting new opportunity to join our brilliant team in our Teddington shop in a brand new role, as part of our ongoing plans to grow our Retail teams and deliver inspiring retail spaces across the UK!

We want to bring the wonders of charity shops back to our high-street and we need driven and passionate people to get us there! 

This position is for an initial 12-month fixed term contract.

About the Role 

As Shop Support Manager, you will provide focused support on defined areas, working alongside the Shop Manager to understand the shop, community, and proposition.   

This is an exciting new role with huge opportunity to impact the success of our Teddington shop, and to act as an ambassador for our brand in the local community!

Working closely with the Shop Manager in our Teddington shop, you'll take on a varied role delivering on key areas of work to enable the delivery of the shop's potential. You'll help embed new processes and ways of working that empower the volunteer team to help the Shop Manager drive the shop forward. 

From supporting volunteer recruitment, to taking on responsibility for day-to-day operations or leadership of the shop, you'll provide key support and additional capacity to the Shop Manager to enable the shop's continued success.   

About You 

You will be someone with exceptional project coordination skills, who understands the importance of community and enjoys supporting people to exercise similar passions through volunteering. 

You'll bring: 

• Project coordination or operations experience within retail or a transferable setting, e.g. community engagement, volunteer management, retail operations etc. 
• Excellent customer service skills with the ability to build & maintain positive working relationships with a variety of people.
• A flexible, positive and resilient attitude, able to work at pace in a fast-moving environment. 
• Results driven approach with experience of working to targets. 
• Experience and confidence using a range of IT platforms including MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), as well as systems for the management of other areas (e.g. reporting, volunteer management). 

Previous charity retail experience is not essential. If you have transferable project management experience and are looking for a new challenge, we'd love to hear from you!

ABOUT BLACK ROOTZ

Black Rootz is a multigenerational growing project providing opportunities for Black and racially minoritised people to grow food for themselves, their families and their communities. Black Rootz was established in 2019 by a collective of Black growers in Haringey who recognised the need to organise to challenge the deep inequalities in the growing and food systems. Over the past 5 years, Black Rootz has developed a holistic practice for Black and racially minoritised communities incorporating intergenerational knowledge transfer, increased access to land and food sovereignty, regenerative environmental practices and reduced food inequality.

Black Rootz has been incubated as a project within The Ubele Initiative since 2019. As an established name in the growing community, it is now building towards an independent future.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Project Manager is a new role that will provide hands on management capacity to Black Rootz. The role will bring experience and energy to support the delivery and continued development of the project’s core activities; the Community Growing Programme and a new workshop series. The Project Manager will take on a management position and, with support from Ubele, help the project to navigate decisions that will enable Black Rootz to achieve its overall social, environmental, and operational ambitions. 

The successful candidate will be central in Black Rootz’ journey towards a more independent and sustainable future. The ideal candidate will be comfortable with the complexity andholistic nature of Black Rootz and will be committed to its values. As a small team, the Project Manager will be as comfortable making plans and big decisions as they are rolling their sleeves up and being hands on to support the team. While this is a fixed-term contract, we expect the role to be extended and grow over time.
