Main Responsibilities
· Develop and implement the company’s development strategy including (but not limited to):
- Public Funding (including both ACW and ACE)
- Trusts and Foundations
- Corporate supporters and sponsors
- Private giving (individual donors and major givers)
· Research, identify and draft applications, pitches and asks to appropriate funders/supporters, cultivating relationships and securing support to achieve defined targets
· Manage and nurture the ongoing relationships with current and past supporters/funders
· Plan, manage and deliver a planned programme of development events
· Design and deliver reporting processes that are fit for purpose and satisfy funders’ and supporters’ requirements
· Support Finance Officer and Company Administrator in financial reporting of designated funds
· Manage development budgets
Position in the Company
The Development Manager will;
· Be line managed by the Executive Director and report to her
· Produce written updates for the Board of Trustees and report verbally to them as required
· Work in partnership with the company’s Communications and Marketing Manager to engage donors, prospects and key stakeholders with the company, moving from purely transactional relationships to ones based on emotional connection and commitment
· Work with the company’s Executive Team to cultivate new supporters and strategic delivery partners with which to develop and grow the company’s work both within the UK and Internationally
· Work with the company’s Community Programme Manager to cultivate new opportunities for support
· Manage the Development Officer

The purpose of the role
This is an exciting opportunity to play a crucial role in the theatre’s new Stories Start Here campaign, building on our successful major donor fundraising programme. As the key relationship manager for a portfolio of some of our closest and passionate supporters, the Major Gifts Manager makes a vital contribution to this growing income stream. By identifying, cultivating, soliciting and securing major gifts of £25,000 and more, and working collaboratively across the department with other fundraising teams, there is lots of scope to build on your existing fundraising experience to develop an engaged and generous portfolio of major donors.
The successful candidate will have the following:
- Experience in a fundraising capacity, with a successful track record of meeting targets and personally soliciting and securing 5-figure+ philanthropic gifts.
- Evidence of relationship management to proactively develop a portfolio of prospects employing creative strategies to engage them.
- Demonstrable prospect research skills.
- Evidence of ability to write persuasively, and experience of creating compelling fundraising materials.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the necessary listening, facilitation, negotiation, and diplomatic skills to represent the NT, and to achieve immediate credibility and influence with high net worth individuals, and internal and external stakeholders.

About this role:
This is a new role in the organisation that will support the theatre’s CEO, Board and executive team including trustees, Finance Executive Officer and Exec Producer. Key responsibilities:
Administration
1. Calendar Management:
- Manage and coordinate the CEO’s schedule, including meetings, appointments, and travel arrangements.
- Anticipate and prioritize the CEO’s needs, ensuring optimal use of time.
2. Communication:
- Act as the primary point of contact between the CEO and internal/external stakeholders.
- Draft, edit, and proofread emails, documents, reports and presentations on behalf of the CEO.
3. Meeting Coordination:
- Arrange and coordinate executive meetings, ensuring all necessary materials and information are prepared.
- Arrange and coordinate Board meetings and Board subcommittee meetings.
- Take minutes during meetings and distribute action items accordingly.
4. Confidentiality:
- Handle sensitive information with the utmost discretion and maintain a high level of confidentiality.
5. Document Management:
- Organize and maintain electronic and hard copy documents, ensuring safe storage of important documents.
6. Special Projects:
- Assist the CEO in various special projects and initiatives, providing research and support as needed.
Fundraising
1. Fundraising, Research and Monitoring
- Assist the CEO and fundraising team with research for funding applications and cultivation campaigns.
- Develop and maintain a proactive prospect pool of potential funders in conjunction with the CEO and fundraising team.
- In conjunction with the CEO and fundraising team collate and compile funding applications and reports.
- Work with the fundraising team, CEO and senior management team to continue developing the theatre’s case for support, fundraising collateral, supporter crediting and events.
- Provide regular reports and updates on fundraising activities to the CEO and stakeholders and Board.
2. CRM and digital records
- Ensure finance and other colleagues are updated through agreed processes on fundraising income raised.
3. Donor Stewardship and Reporting
- Demonstrate to funders and donors the impact of their support on audiences and communities through the creation of compelling project reports. When necessary, provide evidence including showcasing outcomes, case studies and achievements to supporters.
- Prepare thank-you letters and donation receipts, ensuring accuracy and timeliness. Additionally, oversee the monitoring of reporting deadlines and requirements and donation reports in conjunction with the CEO and fundraising team as needed.
The successful candidate will have (essential criteria):
- Proven experience as an Executive Assistant, Fundraising Officer or similar role, supporting C-level executives
- An enthusiasm for administration and/or fundraising
- Evidence of a proactive attitude to work and the ability to take the initiative
- 1-2 years’ experience of administration, fundraising and/or marketing
- Evidence of strong verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent organisational and multitasking skills
- Evidence of self-motivation
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant tools

Job Responsibilities

Working with the Senior Prospect Research & Donor Insight Manager, you will develop a strong fundraising pipeline that will ensure the team can reach their long-term targets.
Your natural curiosity will lead you to identify new opportunities using a variety of online sources in combination with the NT’s database, Tessitura, and you will be able to articulate your recommendations to fundraisers in a concise and compelling way.
