Purpose of Role

Smile Train seeks a collaborative, innovative, and entrepreneurial professional for the role of Director of Fundraising, Smile Train UK. The Director of Fundraising is a self-starter with an entrepreneurial mindset.

Primary responsibilities

• The Director is responsible for managing, hiring, and effectively leading the fundraising team towards the achievement of their individual targets.
• Maintains a portfolio of major donors and prospects by creating and implementing strategies for the cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of donors with the capacity to make 5- and 6-figure annual gifts and 6- and 7-figure leadership gifts.
• The position demands experience with designing fundraising strategies and good management skills for implementing strong, prioritised and focused work plans that achieve (or exceed) the agreed organisational goals.
• Overall responsibility of the annual revenue budget, ensuring reporting requirements as defined by the VP, International Development for monthly, quarterly, and annual budget and target monitoring.
• This position shall work in tandem with the global communications team to jointly create a positive, campaign-driven image of Smile Train in the United Kingdom.
• Manage Philanthropic Advisory Council of high-level Smile Train supporters.

Experience

• Minimum seven years' experience in senior level fundraising, ideally in a leadership role with oversight over end-to-end execution. 
• Knowledge of individual, corporate, foundation and major donor fundraising methodology including cultivation, solicitation, stewardship, and prospecting of donors.
• Proven track record in leading fundraising and delivering income growth within a similar sized organization.
• Experience in a marketing and public relations role a plus.

About the role

As CEO, you'll support us through a new stage in our development. We're operating in a fluid political environment and so our new leader needs to be confident to work in a political setting while also having the skills and experience to run an organisation like ours.

• as leader of the campaign, be primarily responsible for building the popular and political momentum needed to secure this seismic reform;

• ensure MVM has a clear external brand, with consistent messages, effective and emotive arguments, and impactful use of evidence;
• be a spokesperson for the organisation on a variety of public platforms including national media and at key MVM events;

• lead on development of MVM's post-election strategic plan;

Key responsibilities 

Organisational Leadership and line management 

• Deputise for the Director when necessary

• Support organisation-wide improvements and innovation, including strategic planning and organisational structure

Fundraising 

• Work with the Director and consultants to own and implement a robust fundraising strategy to support the organisation as it executes its new strategic plan 

• Develop processes for managing fundraising applications and stewardship of existing funders and supporters 

• Write and submit high quality, inspiring and tailored funding applications and reports for trusts and foundations (expected to be in the region of £10,000-150,000) 

• Identify and develop potential new funding opportunities for First Give, including major donors and corporate funders 

• Manage relationships with a set number of key funders, ensuring that we proactively seek feedback, engagement and involvement in our work 

New School Partner Recruitment 

• Oversee and co-ordinate all new school partner recruitment sales and marketing activity 

• Work with our marketing agency to develop and implement marketing campaigns 

• Support the Programmes Team to recruit new partner schools in priority regions 

• Proactively seek opportunities for growth of the First Give partners network 

• Develop and design and production of marketing and sales resources to support all sales activity 

• You may also be required to deliver sales meetings with networks including Headteacher meetings and attend conferences to promote the work of the charity 

Communications 

• Lead the development and manage the delivery of our communications strategy, including all messaging to key stakeholders via a range of appropriate channels, including newsletters, social media and our website 

• Be responsible for the First Give website, ensuring it is up to date, relevant and meets the needs of the organisation 

• Brand champion, ensuring that all external communications and resources are aligned with our brand identity and tone of voice

Our outstanding charity client is recruiting an Interim Head of Fundraising (Election).  This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in leading and managing their fundraising initiatives, helping them to build strong foundations for the future, liaising high-profile donors, and maximising on the increased profile and visibility they will have during this election year.

The Youth Environmental Service is looking for someone special to join our young and growing team. Someone who can come in as right hand to the Programme Director, with the energy and experience to thrive in a boldly ambitious social enterprise start-up.

As Head of Delivery, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping the future of YES. You’ll be responsible for designing and delivering proofs of concept that demonstrate the programme’s viability and potential, paving the way for it to scale nationwide by 2030.

Initially on a six-month contract, but with the option to extend, your first focus will be on laying the groundwork for our next proof of concept, designing the programme, identifying partners and securing funding that will allow us to create up to 50 roles in a specific region (TBC once in role) in 2025.

Longer term, we're looking for someone who can:

• Deliver Proof of concepts: Design, develop and deliver future projects that support the creation of new paid placements in different regional hubs across the country. Building on lessons from our first pilot we need to continue to refine what YES does, how it works, all with the goal of building a body of compelling evidence that will shape how we scale our vision.
• Own the 'Product': We need a clear, accessible, and compelling proposition for how we do what we do and why it works. You’ll be responsible for keeping hold of that core product, and making sure it doesn’t get diluted as the programme begins to scale.
• Secure funding: Engage with funders, big and small, to bring in the financial support required to deliver our proofs of concept. We’ll need to experiment with a more sustainable long-term funding model, so you’ll need to be able to explore new approaches to funding placements, working with a range of different funders and through different funding approaches.
• Build a coalition: We don’t want to do this alone. You’ll need to engage nature, net zero and circular economy organisations as well as delivery partners, creating a collaborative network of organisations who can work together to deliver our programmes and create the foundations on which we can scale in the future.

Our Finance Department works as a team of experts to safeguard resources and support decision making across Shelter. We strive to ensure Shelter is financially sustainable in order to achieve our vision of a home for everyone. This particular role sits within the Financial Planning and Analysis team. We support the charity through financial reporting, analysis, and expert advice, and enable collaboration to support managers in making effective business decisions.

About the role

Joining a finance team that collaborates and communicates effectively to help us deliver our mission and vision, making vital business decisions that are driven by expert knowledge and financial acumen will be key to your success here. As part of the role, you’ll engage regularly with our Assistant Directors and their leadership teams to ensure that financial results and key messages are shared and you’ll support stakeholders in engaging with fully available financial insight and reporting.  When it comes to our stakeholders, you’ll support and lead finance education and training to equip them with the skills required to execute their own financial responsibilities.

Among your many challenges will be the need to align financial plans to operational and strategic plans and make sure they’re clearly understood by Business Units. Seeing that each Unit is provided with a channel of effective, two-way communication with Finance will be important too. You’ll also work with colleagues in Project Governance and HR Business Partnering to support Directorate planning and business cases, as well as supporting and leading on the delivery of cross-team projects.

About you

Additionally, it would be an advantage if you have experience working in a Charity and have associated experience of managing restricted funds and fundraising.

Location: Office based or remote working (or a combination of the two) from anywhere ADD has an office (Cambodia, Bangladesh, Uganda, Tanzania, Sudan or UK). Applicants must have a right to work in the country they wish to be based.

Contract: Full-time, permanent (though we are open to considering applications from those who want to work on a part-time or job-share basis)

Job Purpose

ADD is looking for a Head of Transformative Partnerships and Influencing to lead on nurturing and expanding relationships with institutional funders and partners so that more resources and opportunities can flow to disability justice movements in Africa and Asia.

This is a new role that will lead both our institutional fundraising and influencing work. This role will be responsible for raising significant funds from a range of institutional funders. This role will also lead on the development of a new influencing strategy to inspire funders and organisations in the disability and development sector, to increase funding for disability justice and to fund organisations led by people with disabilities directly.

Finally, this role will also ensure excellent stewardship of our existing strategic investments and partnerships.

Person specification

This is an exciting opportunity for someone passionate about disability justice and disrupting traditional funding approaches. It would be a great opportunity for someone interested in transformation in the International Development sector with a commitment to shifting power and resources to organisations led by people with disabilities. We are looking for someone who can boldly challenge power asymmetries in the funding system and help build mutually beneficial partnerships with a wide range of people. The successful candidate will have strong influencing skills and be able to inspire people to understand the importance of disability justice and participatory grantmaking. You must also demonstrate a passion for ADD’s mission and a demonstrable commitment to the Social and Human Rights Models of Disability.

Specific things we would like you to have are:

• Extensive experience in relationship-based fundraising and building meaningful relationships with funders and partners
• Extensive experience of developing and delivering influencing and/or advocacy strategies
• Excellent influencing skills
• Excellent public speaking and networking skills
• A strong understanding of flexible funding and its benefits
• Strong strategic thinking skills and the ability to translate ideas into strategy
