Gympanzees is a multi-award-winning Bristol-based charity. Our mission is to ensure all children and young people with a disability have access to regular exercise, play and friendship. We aim to open multiple exercise and play facilities around the country – the first of which will be in Bristol. As the Grants and Statutory Funding Manager, you will be pivotal in securing appropriate grants to meet our annual grant income target at Gympanzees. This position is ideal for someone with proven experience in researching and crafting successful grant applications. You'll be tasked with distilling complex information into compelling narratives that effectively convey our mission and objectives while aligning with grant requirements. Excellent copywriting skills are essential, as you'll need to create engaging and informative content that tells our story authentically. Your approach will be highly organised and methodical to ensure accuracy and compliance with grant briefs. Reporting to the Head of Philanthropy, you'll collaborate closely with a high-level fundraising team to maximize funding opportunities and drive positive impact.

The Individual Giving Officer will work closely with the Director of Fundraising & Engagement and the Head of Fundraising to deliver significant elements of the charity’s fundraising strategy, in particular our Individual Giving income. The post holder will be responsible for growing our cash and regular donor income through both acquisition and retention activities, including through our flagship Dry January® campaign.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities
Campaign project management:

Plan, manage and deliver innovative and impactful supporter campaigns across a range of channels.

Operate within set budgets and achieve income targets outlined in annual plans.

Produce clear and succinct briefs to agencies, suppliers and internal stakeholders.

Use marketing judgement to proof, edit and develop compelling creative, and make sound decisions on proposals and testing plans.

Work closely with the Director of Fundraising and Engagement, Fundraising and Engagement Manager, Community and Challenge Events Officer and Communications team to successfully deliver campaigns and evaluations.

Support the development of an effective welcome and supporter journey, to help increase the average lifetime value of donors.

Continually test and learn across campaigns to improve performance.

Deliver campaigns in a compliant way, adhering to GDPR and fundraising regulation and Code of Conduct.

Lead on the research, design and implementation of key products including Mid-Level Giving and a new legacy proposition.
Supporter Care:

Work with the Fundraising & Engagement Assistant to ensure excellent levels of supporter care is provided to all our individual giving donors. Including the reviewing and refining of existing processes.

Oversee the maintenance of our individual supporter data within our CRM
Reporting and analysis:

Closely monitor campaign results and provide updates on performance.

Produce post-campaign analysis reports.

Work with the Director of Fundraising & Engagement to develop and update existing reporting mechanisms.

Make recommendations to improve the performance of future campaigns based on evidence and data.
Competitor analysis and industry perspective:

Use existing research and insight, and where appropriate, undertake and commission new projects to derive new / further insight and analysis.

Identify, research and develop new products, creative ideas and fundraising initiatives.

Keep up to date with industry developments and act upon direct and digital marketing trends and statistics.
Administration:

Manage the administrative tasks for the Individual Giving team, such as processing invoices, ordering stock and updating key documents and materials both online and offline.

The Role
Develop the Legacy strategy with a thorough understanding of pieplines and reforecasting to deliver over £3m annual income.
Lead a team of three direct reports, and two additional reports, including a freelancer.
Create and implement multi-channel campaigns to recruit new legacy supporters from warm audiences and increase the number of legacies notified from these sources.
Introduce new transformational projects and explore new avenues and audiences for legacy and in memory giving, reaching beyond audiences already known.
Create and implement a detailed in memory and tribute fundraising plan based on analysis of donor sources, income and activity.
Act as a Gifts in Wills and in memory ambassador across the organisation.
The Candidate
Proven experience and a successful track record at a senior level in legacy fundraising, including the creation, development and implementation of strategic fundraising plans.
Excellent relationship management and programme delivery skills.
Ability to produce accurate budgets and regular forecasts and to communicate complex financial information.

About the team
This key role sits in both the Planning & Improvement team within our Income Generation Directorate and the Audience Engagement team in our Communications, Policies & Campaigns Directorate as a matrix managed role. The Planning & Improvement team is uniquely positioned to have strategic overview of activities that binds together all income generation campaigns, appeals, activities and products. It’s responsible for enabling and accelerating the delivery of Income Generation’s strategic plan. About the role
You will lead the Planning & Project Management Team that consists of a Senior Project Manager and a Senior Planning & Project Executive who are responsible for improving the directorate’s approach to integrated and cross-organisational working. You will play a big part in financial and operational planning as well as managing your team’s performance and driving cultural change – all are aspects of a high profile role that will play a big part in helping us achieve our ambitious fundraising goals.
About you
Highly collaborative, flexible, diplomatic and assertive, with good influencing and negotiation skills, you have the management and leadership skills it takes to manage, motivate and develop others. You’re also used to working in a matrix management environment where you have taken responsibility for cross-organisational objectives. Identifying, managing and mitigating risk to ensure successful project delivery comes naturally to you too, as does working with project management methodologies and processes. And, when it comes to training and facilitating others to plan well together and communicate success, failures, contingency and change so that income generation plans are delivered and KPIs met, again, you are able to deliver.

About the Role
The Other Multilaterals and Government (OMG) team sits within the Global Programmes and Philanthropy (GPP) team and has responsibility for MSI’s donor portfolio, including stewarding global and bilateral contracts and grant agreements with European and North American government donors and UN agencies. The team leads contract negotiations, organises kick-off workshops for internal stakeholders and partners, monitors project performance and spending, coordinates project inputs from the wider organisation (e.g. GEDSI assessments and strategies, MERL plans, technical assistance), tracks and escalates risks and issues, liaises with the donor on ad hoc requests, donor visits and collaborative initiatives such as webinars, leads donor reporting with the support of country programmes and the donor finance team, supports the operations team to manage close-out processes, elicits and disseminates learning on donors and donor stewardship, and the contributes to donor engagement.
This is a critical role. The stewardship standards set by GPP impact the quality of programming, MSI’s reputation and future fundraising prospects. The role also provides a wealth of professional development opportunities, providing rich insights into donors, programme delivery and support functions.
