Job description

The Events and Community Officer will play a key role in delivering Fight for Sight’s challenge event portfolio and engage with a wide range of volunteers, membership groups and associations, students and local businesses.  You will lead on the delivery of key challenge and special events, such as London Marathon, Royal Parks Foundation Half Marathon and our own carol concert, Carols in the City. We are looking for a candidate who is a confident  self-starter, who can build rapport quickly, has a natural passion for building relationships and delivering the highest levels of stewardship. You will be an ambitious fundraiser with a minimum of 12 months community or events fundraising under your belt

About us

The Fight for Sight is UK’s leading eye research charity, we help people who are living with eye conditions by finding new pioneering treatments to treat and prevent sight loss. We fund research into all eye conditions, with a focus on four key areas so that we can have the most impact for people with sight loss.


As the ideal candidate, you will have:

  • Experience in community and events fundraising
  •  Experience gained through engaging supporters in community fundraising
  •  Experience managing events
  •  Able to work independently, collaboratively and as an effective team member
  •  Ability to build rapport quickly with supporters at all levels on the phone and in person
  •  Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  •  Excellent time management and organisational skills with the ability to prioritise work, handle conflicting demands, and meet tight deadlines
  •  Strong IT skills, with good knowledge of MS Office and Raiser’s Edge (or equivalent database)
  •  Strong administration skills
  •  Ability to work flexible hours, including occasional weekend and evening work at events
  •  Commitment to the mission, values and goals of Fight for Sight
