Purpose of the job/About the role
Join Dementia UK as a Gift Processing Officer helping to establish an excellent level of financial processing that will underpin the growth in fundraising activity across a range of income streams.
Working within the supporter care team you will be responsible for processing a high volume of donations. You will ensure that that all processing is accurate and timely in order to provide an excellent supporter experience for all Dementia UK donors & supporters. Reporting to the Supporter Care Manager, the Gift Processing Officer will handle post, cheques, cash and charity vouchers, working carefully with our database to record income and thank all supporters who give to Dementia UK.
The ideal candidate will possess previous experience in database management, demonstrating a keen eye for detail and strong numeracy skills. You will have high computer literacy with knowledge of Microsoft Office including Word and Excel. You will also have excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to prioritise own workload and adapt to changing demands in a busy environment.

At Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice we care for children and young adults with life-shortening and life-threatening conditions. Our support services are wide ranging and bespoke to each family including end of life treatment and care, respite short breaks, counselling, sibling support groups, music therapy, home visits and much much more.
It costs more than £5m each year to keep our doors open for families across South Yorkshire and beyond. We receive around 15% of our funding from government and the rest is sourced by our Income Generation team.
The role:
An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Income Generation team at Bluebell Wood and we are now on the lookout for an experienced fundraiser to join us and take on the responsibility of developing, implementing and delivering the hospice’s Individual Giving portfolio.

Main duties:
- Identify and research grant giving trusts and foundations to whom Horatio’s Garden is eligible to submit applications for funding.

About this role…
Thames Reach’s Outreach teams operate across London and helps those who are rough sleeping to find routes away from the street. The teams respond to referrals and work flexibly to reach London’s most vulnerable. Individuals are assessed to identify their support needs and support plans are created, including work to obtain identification, access health services and refer to other specialist agencies, including those with immigration issues.
We are looking for a Lead Worker to join the Hillingdon Streat Outreach Team.
You will:
- Lead outreach shifts, providing a rapid response to referrals for people who are rough sleeping in the borough
- Take a lead role within the team, working closely with support workers and assistant support workers to identify the quickest and most appropriate route off the street for people found rough sleeping, and devise plans to achieve this
- Provide direct support to people who are found rough sleeping to enable them to move away from the streets and into accommodation
- Work alongside partner agencies to ensure that clients are accessing appropriate support to access and sustain accommodation.
- Represent the team at multi-agency meetings
- Accurately record all work completed within given timeframes
To succeed as the Lead Worker, you will have:
- A strong commitment to providing a high standard of service
- Experience working with people who have rough slept or vulnerable adults and supporting them to access services
- Excellent organisation and time management skills in order to remain strongly outcome focused, with the ability to coordinate a high number of cases and complete tasks promptly and efficiently.
- Good communication skills and confidence in public speaking when representing Thames Reach externally
- Experience in forming strong working relationships with partner agencies, being able to challenge them when required
- Strong IT skills with the ability to use Outlook, online recording systems, Excel, and Word, using a tablet and a smart phone
- A clean driving license (desirable)

As the Individual Giving Manager - Supporter Retention & Development, you will play a pivotal role in the Individual Giving team. You will be responsible for the development and delivery of multi-channel (online and offline) activity and campaigns for Supporter Retention & Development including conversion, upgrade, reactivation, cross-selling, cash appeals & in memory income. You will lead on building the Supporter Retention & Development programme, focusing on growing income, the supporter base and improved engagement.
Key responsibilities include:
- Proven experience of Individual Giving / Direct Marketing within a multi-channel, multi-discipline environment to deliver significant returns and supporter satisfaction, especially through supporter retention & development programmes
- Understanding of the effective development and use of supporter contact strategies, turning analysis and insight into high performance actions
- Strong project-management experience, including managing budgets, schedules, creative development, and supplier relationships for fundraising direct marketing campaigns
- Experience of Individual Giving retention and acquisition programmes
- Experience of line management
