Would you like to work for an innovative community project making a difference to the lives of young people?
The Café & Catering Manager will manage the Café at the Old School, ensuring a high-quality food and drink offer and standard of service to the public. A key part of this role is to help to deliver learning and employment support opportunities for students from Slated Row School. The ideal candidate will be a patient and kind individual who enjoys helping others to learn catering skills. You will also have entrepreneurial skills, able to contribute energy and ideas about how the café can generate an income in the long-term. You will enjoy working for a small organisation, where you will have the autonomy and flexibility to make the job your own, whilst delivering significant social impact for the local area.
The Old School Project is based at a Grade 2 listed building in Old Wolverton, located next door to Slated Row School, who are a strategic partner in the project. The Old School offers students from the school, who have special educational needs and learning difficulties, an invaluable opportunity to gain work experience and life skills. The students support the day-to-day operation of our community centre, community café and 3 bedroomed Guest House, all of which operate on a commercial basis.
The building is owned by Future Wolverton, a membership based Community Benefit Society, that has a mission to establish Wolverton as a thriving and sustainable town within the city of Milton Keynes. We do this by enabling an active and involved community to protect and celebrate the unique heritage of the Town, whilst developing new business, housing and community facilities to ensure future prosperity.
