Job Title: Independent Mental Capacity Advocate
Accountable to: Head of Operations
Responsible to: Advocacy Services Manager
Reporting to: Independent Mental Capacity Act Team Leader
Location: Gaddum House, professional and community settings
Hours: 35 hours a week with expectation to provide shared duty cover.
Contract: Permanent (subject to funding)
Gaddum Advocacy (formerly: The Manchester Advocacy Hub) provides all statutory advocacy services across Manchester and we are looking for an energetic and passionate advocate to join our team.
The Independent Mental Capacity Advocate is responsible for responding to advocacy referrals under the Mental Capacity Act and the Care Act as necessary.
Our Advocates work in partnership with the people they support and take their side. Gaddum Advocacy promotes social inclusion, equality and social justice.
- To provide independent advocacy support to people who lack capacity in line with the Mental Capacity Act (MCA) Code of Practice.
- To support and represent adults who lack capacity in matters relating to or connected with their deprivation of liberty in line with the Mental Capacity Act and the Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards Code of Practice.
- To promote social inclusion, equality and social justice through advocacy.
