Job Title:               Independent Mental Health Advocate

Accountable to:   Head of Operations

Responsible to:   Advocacy Services Manager

Reporting to:        Independent Mental Health Advocacy Team Leader

Location:               Gaddum House, professional and community settings

Salary:                    £21,589

Hours:                    35 hours a week with expectation to provide shared duty cover.

Contract:              Permanent (subject to funding)


Job Summary

Gaddum Advocacy (formerly: The Manchester Advocacy Hub) provides all statutory advocacy services across Manchester and we are looking for an energetic and passionate advocate to join our team.

The Independent Mental Health Advocate is responsible for responding to advocacy referrals under the Mental Health Act as necessary.

Our Advocates work in partnership with the people they support and take their side. Gaddum Advocacy promotes social inclusion, equality and social justice.

Job Purpose

  • To provide independent advocacy support to people who are subject to the Mental Health Act in either hospital or community settings to ensure that they understand their rights under the Act
  • To promote social inclusion, equality and social justice through advocacy.
