Galop is the leading LGBT+ anti-violence organisation working with lesbians, gay men, bi, queer, trans, non-binary and intersex people who have experienced prejudice, violence or harassment. Over 35+ years, Galop has supported LGBT+ people who experience abuse and injustice and has campaigned for equal, fair, and inclusive access to criminal justice and other services.
Galop has grown significantly in the last 4 years with the income level of the organisation going from £0.32 million and 3.8 f.t.e to £1.6 million and 22.5 f.t.e. To account for this growth and support the future development of the organisation Galop undertook a restructuring exercise. Within the restructure it was recognised that an in house dedicated staffing resource to hold the day-to-day responsibility for the operations management function was necessary and the Operations manager is now a key role in Galop’s Management team.
Under the direction of the CEO and with the help of the Administrator and a Bookkeeper ensure the postholder works to ensure the effective operations of the charity, plan and implement the most efficient procedures. The postholder areas of responsibility will be:
- Operational support to the CEO and Service Leads
- Financial management
- HR and Health & Safety management
- Office and facilities management
- Communications management
As a member of the management team you will be expected, with training and guidance, to take an active part in supporting the whole Galop team and be part of the Duty Manager rota that provides support to the frontline team. Experience and aptitude to provide calm leadership and a supportive problem-solving approach to practical problems and judgements involving risk is necessary.
It is also vital to have knowledge of the broad range of issues facing LGBT+ people, and to have a demonstrable commitment to the ongoing development of knowledge and understanding about the issues that Galop works with, namely supporting LGBT+ victims and survivors of discrimination, abuse and violence. A robust commitment to equalities and the inclusion of all LGBT+ people is essential.
