Full time (35 hours per week), 1 year contract (potential for extension subject to funding)
GamCare is the leading national provider of information, advice, support and free treatment for the prevention and treatment of problem gambling. Our expert services are confidential and non-judgemental. GamCare has received funding for a new, exploratory project looking into Gambling Related Financial Harm
There is currently a good understanding of the link between problem gambling and debt and/or financial harm and also of how gambling related debt causes harm in people’s lives. However, the relationship between problem gambling and financial difficulty is a complex one with many stakeholders involved including the financial sector, gambling industry, financial wellbeing organisations and problem gambling treatment providers. The Gambling Related Financial Harm Project will see these sectors brought together to develop expertise and share best practice to ensure consistency across them.
The opportunity has arisen for a motivated and experienced project co-ordinator to help kick-start this project, and lead on the multiple strands of work including the development and sharing of knowledge & awareness raising training delivery and project evaluation. This project will work with a wide range of stakeholders from the gambling industry working to protect players, support services providing advice and treatment, and a variety of other beneficiaries.
Work in this developing field is both fast moving and ‘of the moment’ as the media, policy-makers and the wider public have turned their attention to participation in gambling activity and the harms which can result from it.
Key Responsibilities will require the candidate to:
