Communications Officer

Salary: £25,000-£29,000 per annum (depending on experience)

Permanent: FT (37.5) hrs.

Hybrid: Hybrid: home and office working. Our head office is currently located on Kings Road, London SW3

The role

We are looking for an exceptional individual with an open, collaborative style and a practical, can-do approach to join our Communications Team. As the Communications Officer, you will help ensure that Glass Door continues to deliver emotive and compelling content across our print and digital channels.

This is an interesting and varied role in a fast-paced environment, working across the broad range of communication platforms. In this central role, you will interact with front-line and office staff to provide communications support across Glass Door.

Working closely with the Head of Communications, you will play a key role in ensuring our core audiences are engaged with the work of Glass Door. You will contribute creative ideas to generate content for campaigns, news stories, blogs and social media and manage our communications campaigns often working alongside other teams within Glass Door. You will also maintain our social media accounts, focusing on driving traffic and increasing engagement. There will also be opportunities to support the co-ordination of events, provide materials and/or online support to fundraisers, and representing Glass Door when requested.

About you

A team player and confident self- starter, you will have strong writing and editing skills with the ability to write clear, compelling content for various audiences.

Possessing exceptional organisational skills, you will work closely with the Head of Communications, as you confidently coordinate the production of publications, social media content and manage updates to our websites, ensuring brand consistency across the charity.

You will be an excellent communicator with the ability to relate to and work with people from a range of backgrounds, coupled with demonstrable experience of two years or more of working in a communications or digital role.

You will be confident working with various software and have good working knowledge and experience of website publishing, managing and delivering email marketing campaigns with online platforms/tools such as Mailchimp. Intermediate to advanced experienced in Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) is essential. A strong design interest and at least some experience using graphic design tools (e.g., InDesign, Photoshop, Canva) to create and edit publications and graphics would be highly advantageous.

Some experience of working within the not-for-profit sector and experience of working with homeless people or similar disadvantaged client groups and an understanding of their needs is desirable.
