Our shelters are open for 22 weeks from 1st November and operate from a different venue, every night of the week with four shelters running each night in the boroughs of Kensington and Chelsea, Hammersmith and Fulham, Richmond and Wandsworth. The shelters accommodate around 30 guests each night.
The working week will require each manager to spend between two and five evenings on duty, setting up and managing the night shelter.
Your shift begins with ensuring the shelter van is stocked and then driven to the evening’s venue. Supporting a strong team of staff and volunteers at each shelter venue is a key part of the job. You will be joined and supported by a Project Worker before the shelter opens to guests.
A team of volunteers are also on duty during the evening to prepare and serve an evening meal to the guests as well as providing support with other aspects of running the shelter. Towards the end of your shift a second project worker joins the team. You will give a detailed handover briefing to the overnight staff and complete a of shift report before the end of your shift at 10PM.
We are looking for confident and empathetic people to join our team. Come and be part of something special and help us support people experiencing homelessness in London.
