Job description

Global Partners Digital (GPD) is a digital human rights organisation seeking a passionate and motivated Operations & HR Manager with a proven background working in operations and HR.

The successful candidate will be an experienced and hardworking operations and HR generalist to manage all aspects of GPD’s core services including operations, HR, IT and finance. You will be expected to demonstrate excellent judgement, initiative, integrity and strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to communicate to all levels of the organisation. You will be part of GPD’s Core Function and will report directly to and support the Chief Operating Officer (COO).

The position is initially fixed-term but has the prospect of becoming permanent. 

Your responsibilities will include: 

  • Working with the Chief Operating Officer to provide core support (operations, HR, finance and IT) to GPD’s teams and projects;

  • Maintaining and delivering GPD’s operations systems and processes, identifying gaps when they arise and developing appropriate solutions;

  • Working closely with the Senior Project Manager to ensure that GPD’s core services meet the projects’ and teams’ needs;

  • Implementing GPD’s HR strategy, which reinforces the cultural and behavioural standards expected of all staff and drives engagement and high performance;

  • Liaising with external employment law specialist to ensure organisational compliance with the latest legislation;

  • Drafting and disseminating company policies and procedures and ensuring compliance with these policies;

  • Coordinating the annual performance management process and providing guidance and support to managers;

  • Managing the recruitment, onboarding and offboarding processes for staff;

  • Maintaining employee and company documentation on the organisation’s HR system, People HR; 

  • Managing the payroll process;

  • Monitoring and reviewing staff benefits and other wellbeing initiatives;

  • Managing supplier contracts and relationships;

  • Overseeing the process for staff business travel;

  • Working with the COO to ensure that GPD’s IT infrastructure, digital security and data management protocols are fit for purpose and maintained;

  • Maintenance of GPD’s digital accounts and subscriptions;

  • Providing support to the COO on company financial matters, including liaising with our accountants, invoicing, facilitating  payruns, facilitating team credit card expenses, facilitating assisting with annual audits, and ensuring that GPD’s financial procedures are adhered to. 

 Essential Skills and Experience 

  • At least five years’ proven experience working in an operations and/or human resources role;

  • Proven experience establishing and maintaining operational systems and processes;

  • Good knowledge of HR processes and best practices;

  • Proven financial or budget management experience;

  • A-level qualifications or equivalent;

  • Excellent written and spoken English;

  • Strong digital literacy, including ability to work on Google Workspace and Slack;

  • Self-motivated and used to managing multiple priorities to meet deadlines;

  • Able to build positive relationships with a range of stakeholders;

  • A high level of discretion and diplomacy;

  • Good decision-making and negotiation skills;

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;

  • A commitment to continuous learning and improvement.

Desirable Skills and Experience 

  • CIPD Level 5 qualification in People Management;

  • Practical experience of working in a human rights or internet-related and digital organisation;

  • Experience working with remote teams from different cultural backgrounds;

  • Experience using Xero or similar;

  • Undergraduate degree qualification or above.

 Terms and Conditions

  • Working days:     Full time or 4 days part time

  • Expected start date:     February 2022

  • Contract Type:       One Year Fixed Term (possibility for extension based on funding)

  • Reporting to:        Chief Operating Officer

  • Salary:         £35,000 - £40,000 pro rata (dependent on experience)

  • Location:         UK based (with permission to live and work in the UK)
