Bladder Health UK (BHUK) is a small national charity that has developed significantly over the last 10 years. We are now looking for a part-time charity manager who can continue this journey. The role gives a rare opportunity to someone who is enthusiastic to make a difference in this unique space and have a significant impact on both sufferers and healthcare professionals. As charity manager you will need a varied skillset including being able to build and nurture relationships, manage a small team of staff, develop new income streams, create, and develop imaginative projects and use innovative technology to boost the aims and objectives of the charity.

What you would do

Account management of existing and new relationships in the charity sector. • Research and write grant applications. • Support in making decisions and advise on the charity spend. • Work with the BHUK team to tell the story of ‘Bladder Health UK’ via its communication channels. • Support hosting and organising charity events. • Manage the general cashflow for the charity including reporting from a finance perspective. • Work on a multitude of projects throughout the year. • Outreach to relevant charities that the charity wants to work with and build long lasting, meaningful relationships with them. •. • Maintain all contracts, mailing lists, ensuring IT systems are kept up to date, and are compliant. • Manage ongoing governance of the charity, including developing and maintaining policy documents such as our grant making policy, conflict of interest processes, procedures and register, risk management policy and register. • Maintain charity commission register records. You will also be expected to be able to provide and present regular reports to the Trustees on the finance and operational activity of the charity.

To succeed in this post, it is essential that you have:

• Have been involved in charity campaign work previously.
• Have experience in charity operations and governance. 
• Have sales /marketing/fundraising experience.
• Be able to multi-task in a busy environment.
• Can demonstrate effective communication skills with ability to liaise with different audiences and be effective at developing long-lasting relationships.
• Evidence that you are highly organised and great with time management.
• Have experience developing social media, websites, and webinars to promote, inform and educate.

It would be desirable that you:

• Have either a clinical background or experience in urology issues.
• Are passionate about making a difference and are willing to understand how amazing our members, volunteers and supporters are.

This is a newly created role and there is a great deal of untapped potential here for a proactive leader to support the CEO and SLT to create efficiencies in how we manage our internal infrastructure (IT Systems and processes), Finance and charity Governance, and HR/people to ensure we maintain and develop a thriving and nurturing working environment. The individual will have significant involvement in the strategic vision of the organisation as a whole. With a broad portfolio, the role combines both operational and strategic elements and must be able to flex up and down accordingly. 

The Biochemical Society and its wholly owned publishing subsidiary Portland Press Ltd (PPL) are seeking an experienced and influential leader to join us as our new Chief Executive, from January 2025 on the retirement of the current postholder Kate Baillie. You will play a crucial role in shaping and delivering a new strategy to increase our income, partnership, and growth potential.

The Biochemical Society was founded in 1911 and currently has around 5,000 members. It is a learned society that is at the forefront of advancing molecular bioscience, promoting its importance as a discipline, facilitating the sharing of knowledge and expertise, and supporting molecular bioscientists across all career stages.

We’re looking for an exceptional individual to become our new Director of Operations. The right person will balance strong interpersonal and leadership skills and robust operational ability in the areas of finance, administration and fundraising. The role of Director of Operations is central to helping us achieve our ambition of further growing as a Black led institution for learning and caring about nature. We are looking for someone with the experience to help shape our growth and guide implementation of our 5 year plan, and who will grow with us to become our Chief Operating Officer.

We are looking for an experienced CEO or senior charity manager, able to manage the business functions of a charity that is just starting out. You will have a proven track record of managing a small, prosocial organisation and setting up the systems necessary for success. You will have skills to work strategically, have business management skills, be able to lead and grow a team and work relationally. 

As CEO an important goal will be to put the charity on a firm foundation for long-term sustainability. You will work with our fundraising consultant to ensure a steady income stream of core funding, ensuring financial stability for employees and building partnerships with local organisations to maximise impact and sustainability through collaborative work and partnership bids. This requires considerable, skilled networking and relationship-building, both within the Church’s Community Hub, with our existing partner VCFSE organisations and in the wider sector, including local Councils, PCNs and the ICB.

You will also be principally responsible for the organisation’s HR function, risk and compliance, as well as its monitoring and evaluation of impact (for quality assurance and fundraising purposes). This means ensuring best practice is observed and maintained in these and related areas, including line management, service policy, financial management, safeguarding and data privacy. 

Knowledge and/or lived experience of mental health difficulties and the relevant support services/treatment modalities is essential; experience working within the mental health sector is highly desirable. We are seeking someone who is passionate about mental health and views this role as an exciting, long-term opportunity to make a significant difference to the lives of thousands of adults in Birmingham. The Ian Karten Charitable Trust is looking for a home-based, self-employed administrator to cover the current incumbent who is going on maternity leave in July 2024.  The Trust is a grant making trust focused on disability and education.

The role is very flexible; hours required are generally between 8 and 16 per month. With the exception of two trustee meetings annually, which usually take place at mutually agreed times during office hours, most of the work can be carried out according to the postholder’s individual commitments and availability.

The administrator will report to the Chair of Trustees, and will be responsible for ensuring that the administrative processes necessary for the running of the Trust are smooth and efficient. This will include monitoring emails and communicating with grantees, processing payments, preparing and distributing papers for trustee meetings, taking minutes at trustee meetings and following up on agreed actions, and ensuring any necessary documentation is kept up to date. GFS is a feminist organisation with a mission to empower girls and young women in England and Wales to live their best lives. Girls as young as 6 tell us that they cannot be themselves. This causes problems for them and society. So, we offer an early intervention service for girls living in areas of deprivation to have the greatest impact.

This is an exciting role with an opportunity to lead the charity into the 150th Year of delivery and with a new strategy to address need. It will involve working with the leadership team and all departments but also the board and their support committees, the ambassadors, and presidents as well as the wonderful team of volunteers across England and Wales.

A great deal has been done to prepare the organisation for such an important time and so now there is a real opportunity for this role to lead in being a figurehead for the charity and representing all that is achieved at GFS in national events and discussions, to best represent the girls of today.

Our new strategy is built around pillars of Impact, Brand and Sustainability with an ambition to grow in delivery as well as reputation. GFS is aware that the work done to listen to and amplify girls’ voices is important because they have so much to say about what needs to change and from a very young age. We combine the power of people taking action from the grassroots up, with coordinated activity by a cross-party Alliance of politicians, public figures, parties and organisations to win PR in years, rather than decades.

About the role

As CEO, you'll support us through a new stage in our development. We're operating in a fluid political environment and so our new leader needs to be confident to work in a political setting while also having the skills and experience to run an organisation like ours.

You'll take ultimate responsibility for our campaign to achieve Proportional Representation in the House of Commons. You will:

• as leader of the campaign, be primarily responsible for building the popular and political momentum needed to secure this seismic reform;
• as leader of the organisation, be primarily responsible for defining and executing MVM’s strategy, while ensuring its good financial health and legal and regulatory compliance; and
• as leader to our staff and volunteer team, be primarily responsible for providing clarity of direction while ensuring the organisation maintains a collaborative, empowering and inspiring culture.

You will:

• lead the UK campaign for Proportional Representation;
• ensure MVM has a clear external brand, with consistent messages, effective and emotive arguments, and impactful use of evidence;
• be a spokesperson for the organisation on a variety of public platforms including national media and at key MVM events;
• create and strengthen relationships with key stakeholders;
• lead on development of MVM's post-election strategic plan;
• line manage and delegate responsibilities to staff, as appropriate;
• take ultimate responsibility for the good governance of MVM, including but not limited to the organisation’s financial health, legal compliance, and good standing with regulatory bodies;
• with support of relevant MVM staff, to ensure that the Board is supported in performing its governance role;
• support and comply with MVM’s policies active within the organisation pertinent to the role; and
• undertake other related duties as required to assist MVM in meeting its objectives.

• you have excellent communication and influencing skills and the ability to convey a message with impact and inspire trust; being comfortable communicating with senior stakeholders, volunteers, staff and funders;
• you are a high achiever with an ambitious mindset; and
• you have a strong personal commitment to winning Proportional Representation.
