Having identified a gap in the identification of young carers and adult carers looking after someone with substance misuse issues, over the past year we have successfully piloted a project to identify and provide long-term support to these carers. The Family Support Worker will work across our Young Carers and Adult Carers Service to provide support to families affected by substance misuse through whole-family assessments and reviews and by ensuring that adult and young carers and their families have access to a range of emotional and practical support appropriate to their needs.
The successful candidate will have an understanding of working within the substance misuse field and an understanding of associated health and social issues. They will preferably have experience of working with both adults, and children and young people. We are seeking candidates with a professional qualification in health &social care, youth or community work and/or direct experience of delivering family focused interventions.

Job Purpose
This role is within our crisis alternative service Safe Space - an out of hours service providing a safe and welcoming space for people who are feeling distressed and experiencing crisis. The service operates 365 days a year from 12:00pm (midday) - 11:30pm across all of our boroughs. The role will consist of two shift patterns to ensure the service is covered: 11:30am-6:30pm and 4:30-11:30pm. This will be on a rota basis across support workers.
Staff within the service will provide person-centred, practical and emotional support, face to face or via telephone on a one-to-one or group basis to individuals experiencing mental health crisis. - To improve the mental wellbeing of people experiencing mental health crisis in HFEH.
- To provide support to clients accessing the service- for instance: signposting, de-escalation, planned wellbeing activities etc.

- To remain a source of independent support for all clients.
- To treat service users with respect, dignity and personalised support
- To raise awareness of mental health services available with the goal to improve long term mental health and reduce social isolation

About the role
We are looking for an experienced, enthusiastic, and passionate support worker to take up a full-time role within our organisation as a Housing Support Practitioner in our small and dedicated team. The role will be based mostly in Southwark, and you will be working in partnership with the Council’s housing officers, solicitors, community services, social prescribers, and mental health support workers to coordinate tailored support for each client to avoid eviction and sustain tenancies, mediating with landlords where necessary and providing advice for onward housing when needed with the support of the Housing Link Worker. About the Role
The primary role of a Family Support Worker is to provide effective, efficient, and supportive service to children and their mothers residing in refuge with Solace Women’s Aid. The staff member will lead on the development of a child and family-centred approach to work in the refuge. In so doing, they will:
- Develop and deliver a range of trauma-informed services to children and young people (0-17 years) and their mothers within the refuge and when they are resettled into the community.
- Ensure ongoing development of age-appropriate children’s activities.

- Promote ‘Integrated Working’ through internal and external mechanisms in partnership with colleagues and community partnerships.

Bank Support Workers will provide support to customers to help them develop the life skills they require to meet the assessed needs of the customers of the service. They will work with customers to promote social inclusion and alongside other members of the team to promote independent living, encouraging customers to maximise their skills and choices. Within Learning Disability services, this will include providing physical, domestic, emotional and social care. Fuel Bank - Support Administrator
Location – Remote based role with occasional travel to the Midlands for team meetings & training.
Hours – Part & Full Time Positions. F/T – 37.5 hours Monday to Friday. P/T 20+ hours flexible Monday to Friday to suit the needs of the charity and individual’s work life balance.

Fuel Bank Foundation is the only UK charity to focus on the challenges of people living in fuel crisis. We provide emergency financial support through our network of partners who identify people who cannot afford to pre-pay for their energy.
As a Support Administrator, you will work closely with the team to support the communications through the email inbox, holding telephone assessments and by the processing of queries and applications. You will also work closely with other departments within the charity and ensure clear and consistent communication is delivered and additional support is given where needed.
Some of your duties and responsibilities include:
· Manage the daily queries that are received into the team’s inbox.
· Holding telephone assessments to establish the support needs of the client.
· Request additional information as required in regard to applications.
· Liaise with partners and applicants to ensure all relevant detail is given and gathered.
· Update inhouse systems and Excel spreadsheets.

Crisis is the national charity for people experiencing homelessness. We know that homelessness is not inevitable. We know that together we can end it.
Crisis Skylight Croydon offers IAG, 1-1 coaching and practical support to people who are experiencing homelessness in Croydon and the neighbouring boroughs. We work with several partner agencies including the Homeless Health Team, mental health services and substance misuse services to ensure that our members have access to support needed to end their homelessness for good. We have now received funding from NHS Southwest London to deliver a health advocacy service in Croydon for 12 months.

About the role
As Health Advocacy Worker , you will provide high-quality support to people experiencing homelessness in Croydon. You will support Skylight members as well as residents of local supported and temporary accommodation to register with the appropriate health services and attend health appointments. You will regularly visit local hostels and accompany your clients to their health appointments.
You will hold sensitive conversations about health needs, reasons why someone might have struggled to access health services in the past and what concerns they may currently have. You will provide IAG, support and encouragement to help build your clients’ confidence so that they continue accessing health services independently in the future when your support comes to an end.
About you
To be successful in this role you will have a good understanding of the challenges that people who experience homelessness might face when trying to access health services. You have experience supporting people with multiple needs including mental health, physical health and substance misuse difficulties, a history of multiple exclusion and social isolation. You have worked within a relevant sector which could include homelessness, asylum seeker or health services. You are confident working independently in the community and are willing and able to travel to meet your clients and potential clients around Croydon.

Our Antidote service provides high quality drug & alcohol psycho-social treatment and support to LGBTQ+ people utilising harm reduction & abstinence-based methods. Antidote is a part of London Friend, the UK’s oldest LGBTQ+ charity, which aims to support and promote health & wellbeing for LGBTQ+ people living in the London area.
The largest focus of Antidote’s work is chemsex. Over recent years a need has emerged for rehabilitative support for gay, bisexual and other men who have sex with men (GBMSM) who are part of the criminal justice system linked with chemsex-related offending.
We have recently been awarded an Innovation Grant to deliver a pilot project with HMPPS aimed at supporting this cohort of men serving community sentences or leaving prison. The pilot will test one to one and group support. It will also work with prison and probation staff to improve a drug treatment pathway, including working in HMP Thameside and with their healthcare team to improve knowledge and awareness of chemsex for prison-based staff and to implement a smooth transition into community-based drug treatment on release.
The post holder will provide support to GBMSM referred through the pilot. They will hold a caseload of clients and be responsible for their assessment, case planning, review, and ongoing care. They will develop and deliver new group programmes for this cohort of GBMSM and work collaboratively with prison and probation staff. They will be responsible for maintaining accurate records, including information used to monitor and evaluate the pilot.
They will also assist with the delivery of Antidote’s services, including our walk-in clinics and group programmes, with a priority on identifying and supporting clients within the criminal justice system.
The post-holder will take an active anti-discriminatory, anti-racism and trans-inclusive approach around all areas of work and will be an active member of both London Friend and our partnerships and will support with the aims & objectives of both services.
Due to the nature of the work and in order to provide appropriate access for the clients group the role may require regular evening work and occasional weekend working.
The postholder will be expected to clear HMPPS Vetting to enable access to the secure prison estate.
Whilst this post is part of a pilot programme it is also quite specific and requires experience and ability in supporting clients who may have committed serious offences. Please read the person specification carefully.
