Development Officer Jobs in Greater London
Education should be the means to break the link between demographics and destiny. Yet every week 109 children in England – equivalent to three full classrooms – are asked to leave their schools and never come back, with disastrous personal and societal consequences. The Difference, a young education charity, was founded to change the story on this lost learning. It exists to build the status and expertise of teachers working with vulnerable children, particularly those who are excluded from mainstream schools.
By 2030, The Difference want rates of exclusion and absence to be falling nationally and for schools to be better equipped to support all children, including those who may be vulnerable.
The organisation was born out of a year of research into school exclusions with think-tank IPPR. This research identified a lack of inclusion expertise in schools and proposed a new leadership development programme to fill this gap. In 2018, The Difference founder Kiran hired the team who took this idea from concept to reality, beginning work with our first schools.
The Difference is now a 22-strong team delivering multiple school leadership programmes, alongside a growing research and policy arm. The team is supported by our Youth Advisory Board, made up of young people who have experienced exclusion and who provide their expertise and insights on how school inclusion work should be done. This work is needed more than ever. Effects of COVID-19, coupled with the spiralling cost of living, have substantially increased levels of vulnerability. Schools serving excluded pupils face under-funding. The Difference has had excellent early impact but there is work ahead to capture this, share learning with schools and policy-makers, and grow our capacity to lower exclusions across England.
Our first permanent Head of Fundraising will drive the growth and sustainability of our fundraising function. Having proved the impact on exclusions via our programmes, you will help us generate the income to scale this success across the country. We need an expert fundraiser to support this journey. Join us.

For more than 30 years, War Child has been driven by a single goal – ensuring a safe future for every child affected by war. We aim to reach children as quickly as possible when conflict breaks out and stay long after the cameras have gone to support them through their recovery. We work with local communities and governments to help protect and educate children, and support them to heal and learn, for a safer, brighter future.
Last year, War Child UK agreed to come together with War Child Holland, War Child Germany, War Child Sweden and Children in Conflict in the USA, each of whom previously operated as independent NGOs, to form the War Child Alliance, which went live in January 2024. The new Alliance now runs our overseas projects, our research, scaling and advocacy programmes on behalf of us all, utilising our collective power and influence to have the greatest possible impact for children affected by war. As a member of the new Alliance, War Child UK is now a highly effective and innovative fundraising entity, raising crucial funds and awareness of our work globally.

All Ways Network (AWN) inception back in 2017 began from it’s very first event, Meet the Funders. Since October 2018 they became a registered charity (1180445) working to make the landscape for UK based Muslim and non-Muslim led not-for-profits (NFPs) with an annual income of £1 million or less, an easier one to navigate by empowering and strengthening their individual capacities to achieve funding.
They assist NFPs working in various programme areas including, but not exclusively in homelessness, domestic violence & abuse, alcohol & drugs misuse, community empowerment/cohesion, women’s empowerment, youth work, older people, prisoners and ex-offenders etc.
Prospectus is delighted to be working with AWN to recruit a new Grants Manager (12 month contract) to join the team on a 4 day working week (Mon to Thurs).

This is a relationship and process-based role which reaches right across the breadth of the work of the charity. It is core to the success of the charity.
This role will also assist the Communication Officer in the development of marketing and communications materials, including the identification of grantees to spotlight through digital storytelling and sharing content that can be used to promote the impact of the charity’s work through social media channels and events to showcase work where applicable. There will also be work around creating partnerships with other funders, representing AWN at events and conferences and ensuring market intelligence is shared with the wider team to constantly improve the support they offer to grantees.
