Greater Manchester Poverty Action (GMPA) is seeking a Head of Advocacy, Policy and Research to help drive forward our influencing work. We want Greater Manchester to be at the forefront of efforts to prevent and reduce poverty. In this new position, the successful applicant will play a central role in enabling that to happen.
The successful applicant will have a minimum 2 years’ experience in a relevant advocacy, policy or research role. They will have leadership experience, or the ability to grow into a leadership roel, and be able to motivate a team and support GMPA to deliver against our strategic priorities. They will need a good grasp of policy relating to poverty and an understanding of the opportunities to address it locally. They will be able to plan and deliver on a range of policy and research outputs, in line with our three-year strategy, and be confident in undertaking direct advocacy with decision makers and stakeholders.
GMPA is a not-for-profit organisation that works to prevent and reduce poverty across Greater Manchester.
Our vision is of a Greater Manchester free from poverty where all residents can realise their potential and access the benefits of living in a diverse and vibrant city region.
Over the next three years we will be working towards our vision by focussing on our three strategic priorities: 1) Boosting household income and financial resilience, 2) Ensuring stakeholders in GM embed a strong strategic approach to tackling poverty and 3) Embedding the voices of people with lived experience in the decision-making structures and systems of GM.
