Job description

Position Title: Digital Organiser [initial 9 months fixed term]

Location: London preferred, but we welcome applications from anywhere in the UK with the flexibility to travel to London when needed  

Hours: 37.5 hrs

Start date: As soon as possible

Compensation: £27000 pro-rata

We’re an independently registered non-profit organisation that campaigns for a Green New Deal in the UK. We strive to be a movement led organisation that provides an ‘organising hub’ to facilitate the efforts of ordinary people around the country who want to help campaign for change. We’re dedicated to stopping climate change in a way that improves peoples’ lives and builds a fairer, more democratic society and economy. 

We have a small but nimble team made up of two part-time Executive Directors, the Head of Organising and the National Organiser with the support of a coordinating group made up of volunteers.  This is very much a start-up and it’s hoped that any new addition to the team would help shape the direction, culture and vision of the organisation.




We’re hiring a full-time Digital Organiser to develop and deliver a powerful digital organising and communication strategy to meet our campaign aims.

This means designing effective tactics and strategies that build our communication channels and activate people into local organising and mass mobilisations. It means working with our Hub Support team to empower local organisers to run effective digital strategies. And working within the comms team to amplify this work, to shift the Green New Deal conversation and inspire further action.

As a small organisation, this role will sit across our team and campaigning. We’re looking for a savvy digital campaigner, able to think strategically, respond to political developments and deliver, which can include managing teams of volunteers and directly producing content. 



Responsibilities will include: 

  • Developing and delivering digital campaign strategies and tactics that support our campaign goals and objectives - activate a broad base of people to organise locally to build public support and socialise a  GND 

  • Producing creative communications and digital tools to support a variety of campaign tactics online and offline, local and national 

  • Management of the campaign website, digital tools and social media channels including:

    • Social Media Calendar: Maintain a content calendar for Facebook, Twitter, Instagram. Keep these channels up to date with fresh, relevant content, and keep on top of daily news cycles

    • Email lists and digital tools: designing and managing online user journey, using email and other tools to convert awareness and interest into active participation 

    • Maintaining and updating the Green New Deal UK WordPress site 

    • Content Creation: drafting and publishing social media content.

    • Testing and Improvement: Monitor and report on digital campaign performance 

  • Supporting local hubs to implement coordinated digital strategies and tactics

    • Providing tools, information and training to local Hubs to support their local organising 

    • Managing digital tools to ensure their effectiveness for local Hubs 

    • Creating the digital user journeys that funnel people into local action




  1. Demonstrated success in digital organising and campaigning 

  2. Great at problem-solving, implementing new ideas quickly with solid project management skills and great attention to detail. 

  3. A skilled writer, storyteller and visual communicator who also loves digging into the data to understand what’s driving target audiences to act.

  4. A strong understanding of the role compelling communications plays in delivering social change.

  5. Can effectively manage volunteers

  6. Committed to climate justice and building an equitable movement; has a passion to help create content that is reflective of diverse communities; willingness to have real talk about race, class, and other layers of oppression in a climate justice movement 

  7. Brings a spirit of positivity, flexibility, and resilience to situations with a lot of uncertainty 



Nice to have: 

  • Experience working with either Action Network, Nationbuilder or CiviCRM software

  • Experience working with Wordpress and basic HTML skills

  • Demonstrated success in growing support for campaigns online using paid and organic methods

  • A track record of creating impactful written and visual communications, including basic graphic design skills

  • Solid experience managing and analysing data to inform campaign strategies and rapid response campaigning
