Job Purpose

  • Manage the main London office environment, including completion of statutory and health and safety obligations
  • Develop a 'best in class' HR facility, supported by the Director, for our small team
  • Maintain employee records, including payroll and management of the online HR system
  • Oversee maintenance of the contract register system
  • Manage insurances with the GH broker
  • Manage pension liabilities with the GH pension administrator


Key responsibilities

  • Support the Finance Director in overseeing the HR function of Greenwich Hospital, including documenting HR processes, staff record maintenance, and delivery of HR strategy
  • Prepare monthly payroll, and any other HMRC requirements for employers
  • Manage GH’s online HR system
  • Ensure the London office site follows necessary statutory obligations
  • Engage with the London office’s landlord and representatives on relevant matters
  • Oversee PAT testing, and other health and safety obligations of the London office
  • Oversee onboarding processes for new staff and exiting processes for leavers
  • Input details of GH contracts onto the contract register system, and support staff and auditors in reviewing relevant contract details
  • Manage communications and administration of pensions, including the defined benefit scheme
  • Update the staff intranet for news and changes to centrally managed documents
  • Provide training, as required, to staff on office and HR matters
  • Support GH Staff in responding to simple HR queries
  • Liaise with the external HR advisors (and the Finance Director) on complex HR matters
  • Answering the main office phone, and handling general enquiries
  • Ensure office equipment is maintained and repaired
  • Managing stationery, office supplies, couriers and post (including the franking machine)
  • Develop and deliver internal communications (supporting the intranet)
  • Oversee the maintenance of the London office calendar, and support the GH Director in managing their calendar
  • Set up meeting rooms for external guests
  • Collect and maintain GH archive material in accordance with National Archive requirements
