You will have the business acumen and commercial experience necessary to ensure we maximise the impact of our resources, together with compassion and a strong sense of social purpose. You will need experience of working at a senior level within the charity sector, ideally with experience of providing grants and partnerships. Experience in the technology sector is also welcome. The ideal candidate would lead on embedding, role modelling and living these values and behaviours.
Reporting to the Board, your key responsibilities will be:
Leading, motivating and developing our committed staff to provide the highest quality services to healthcare workers and those who rely on our support
Ensuring that our business strategy, customer service and involvement objectives and performance targets are defined, met and improved
Maintaining excellent relationships with the board of trustees, working with them to maintain an effective governance framework.
Maintaining an excellent working relationship with the chairman to deliver the vision and long-term strategy of the charity.
Communicate and implement the vision, mission, and maintain direction.
Lead the implementation of the overall strategy.
Create a close working relationship with the Chair in the direction and high-level function of the charity.
Implement the strategic plan that guides the direction of the charity.
Oversee the complete operation of the charity.
Evaluate the success of the charity in achieving its goals, specifically driven by defined KPIs.
Pursue potential sources of funding for the charity.
Help to represent the charity to stakeholder groups.
External Organisation Relations:
Ensuring a proactive and high standard of external institutional relations through:
Maintaining and extending the charity's active engagement with both private, public and third sector stakeholders.
Identifying and nurturing external commercial sponsors for the operations and programmes of the charity.
Liaising with the Marketing Manager to deliver member acquisition and retention strategies.
Creating effective media strategies.
Nurturing philanthropic sources of funding for the charity.
With the Finance Officer, ensure the highest level of governance and financial integrity are maintained through:
Ensuring good governance structures for the charity and the good conduct of all aspects of the charity's activities.
Assuring all regulatory and legal documents are filed.
Monitoring compliance with laws and regulations.
Overseeing the charity's fiscal activity, including budgeting, reporting, and auditing.
Policy setting, financial probity and annual budget setting.
Implementation of the agreed policy and budget.
Managing the Risk Register for the charity in conjunction with the Board of Trustees.
Programme Project Management:
Programme and Project Portfolio definition
Developing suitable project specifications
Alongside the Committees ensuring periodic reviews of the projects undertaken.
Management of team
Management of staff on a day to day basis.
Supervision of the recruitment and performance of volunteers and contractors.
Monitoring performance of the team.
Conducting a regular review process.
Training Programmes & Staff Development and Performance:
Overseeing training activities. Working with the Heads of Departments, the post-holder is responsible for providing high quality services ensuring efficient and effective training programmes to the charity's membership and general public.
Ensuring a continuous staff performance and development process through the following actions:
Building a positive and productive culture in the workplace by listening to employee and Trustee opinions, making adjustments where necessary.
Evaluating and implementing the charity's HR review.
Creating an effective staff development programme.
