Job description

This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing fundraising team. You will support the team to develop Hatch’s income and develop meaningful strategic partnerships with corporate and philanthropic funders. You will be joining at a crucial time in the development of our ambitious five-year strategy to diversify and grow our income and impact. We plan to do this through developing high value, strategic and long term partnerships with like minded philanthropic partners. 

You will play a vital role in cultivating and stewarding relationships, supporting proposal development and generating income. The role spans all funding streams – trusts and foundations, corporate partnerships, major gifts and institutional donors – making it a rewarding opportunity for someone excited by their contribution to fundraising as a whole.

Your excellent organisational skills, natural ability to build relationships, and your flair for fundraising will be key to engaging and collaborating with Hatch colleagues, prospects and partners. You will identify funding opportunities, coordinate internal fundraising processes, including proposal development, and engage and develop your own pipeline of donors.




Support Hatch’s fundraising by:

  • Conducting research, identifying, and tracking funding opportunities, preparing funding briefings and alerting the team to opportunities which feed into the funding pipeline and our networks.

  • Conducting funding prospect research, due diligence, and ensuring the CRM tool (SalesForce) and donor engagement plans are up to date with accurate information.

  • Assisting in coordinating and drafting applications for larger funders.

Nurture and grow supporter relationships through:

  • Tracking donations and grants, thanking funders and coordinating internal fundraising processes to ensure a seamless supporter experience. 

  • Building deeper relationships with those interested in supporting Hatch

  • Proactively contribute to building a donor portfolio and delivery of fundraising targets.

  • Taking responsibility for identifying, applying to and managing donor relationships with a portfolio of smaller trusts and foundations, corporate partners  and individuals, seeking unrestricted funding where possible.

  • Supporting the fundraising team and programmes teams to produce high quality and tailored donor reports that demonstrate Hatch’s impact.

  • Coordinating a calendar of cultivation and stewardship events. 

  • Work closely with the Head of Corporate Partnerships and Programmes team to coordinate volunteer engagement opportunities as part of partnership agreements. 


  • Maintaining understanding of relevant fundraising legislation and good practice. 

  • Maintaining and enhancing personal knowledge and keeping abreast of and being responsive to sector news and developments. 

  • Gaining and maintaining in-depth knowledge and understanding of Hatch’s work, priorities and future plans and acting as a spokesperson for the Charity when required, including representing at external events as appropriate. 

  • Be an outstanding advocate for Hatch in line with the core values of the organisation. 

  • Other duties that may be required from time to time as part of a small, dynamic team



Person Specification 


  • An understanding of fundraising or experience of working in the non-for-profit sector.

  • An understanding of fundraising best practice and legislation, including data protection.



  • Ability to work towards strategic objectives and deliver operational fundraising plans.

  • Ability to use CRM systems to manage donor pipelines and reporting.

  • Ability to efficiently manage and deliver a demanding and varied workload, including balancing competing priorities. 

  • Strong organisational and project management skills 


  • Strong attention to detail and to produce work, which is consistently accurate, and which fits the purpose for which it was intended

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to negotiate and influence, internally and externally, in order to support the wider team to develop key relationships. 

  • Excellent oral and written communications skills.

  • Confident with excel and managing data

In the post-COVID world we’re experimenting with full flexibility to work from home or in the office as it suits you, but hope the whole team will be able to come together periodically.
