Graphic Designer role to start ASAP for two -three months Central London £14.27 per hour PAYE -Can start remotley
The design team is a well-respected, very busy team of six staff, headed by the Brand and Design Manager. The team provides brand and design expertise to the whole House Service and sits across the Communications Office and the Web and Publications Unit, which both support the business of the House and its Committees. The team supports high profile external campaigns (such as Parliament Week), as well as a range of internal communications initiatives, including
· events and exhibitions,
· ceremonial and commemorative occasions
· awareness/engagement and behaviour-change campaigns
· education learning resources
· annual reports and other key publications
· informational booklets
· infographics and data visualisations
· promotional and retail products
· digital assets, interactive PDFs and e-books
This role is responsible for developing creative solutions to written briefs, delivering high quality design which adheres to our brand guidelines while successfully meeting agreed timescales and completion deadlines. The successful candidates will support the team in demonstrating the value of design by building effective relationships with communications staff and supporting their requirements by producing imaginative, impactful and engaging visual communications.
You will be responsible for the below:-
Developing creative design solutions for print and digital media by collaborating with commissioning teams, our Design Studio Manager and Senior Designer to develop, clarify and agree design briefs.
Contributing to and collaborating on the development of our visual identity, ensuring consistent application of our brand guidelines.
Producing design to consistently high standards while meeting completion deadlines agreed with commissioning teams and the Design Studio Manager
Actively communicating with commissioning teams and colleagues at all levels of the organisation, as well as collaborating with members of the design team, print and print procurement teams, to ensure projects are delivered to agreed timelines and specifications
Adhering to studio processes and agreed operating procedures, maintaining individual and shared filing systems accurately, producing accurate artwork files for print and digital outputs.
Positively contributing to team events and meetings, from project reviews, design showcases to team away-days
Maintaining design expertise, technical knowledge and awareness by attending design workshops, keeping up to date with industry news and publications and drawing on the skills and knowledge of other communications professionals in the organisation
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the below: -
A degree in Graphic Design/Visual Communication, or the equivalent work experience in a design studio
Understanding of digital design and knowledge of html and CSS.
Proven ability to provide imaginative and creative design solutions for print and digital media, taking responsibility for each project from initial brief to completion.
Excellent time management and organisational skills with the ability to work independently and collaboratively on design projects to meet multiple deadlines.
Proven ability and expertise in Adobe Creative Cloud, specifically Indesign, Photoshop and Illustrator and a sound knowledge of artworking, print and digital processes.
Thorough understanding and knowledge of typography and grid systems.
Experience of interpreting, applying and developing brand guidelines.
Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with customers and colleagues
Experience and understanding of Microsoft Office applications and their integration with Adobe Creative Suite
Knowledge of designing for accessibility for print and online
Ideally experience of graphic design for central government or a department
