Our client is currently seeking a Head of Development to be responsible for the profitable and efficient delivery of the agreed Development Strategy with direct responsibility for generating income through philanthropic and corporate membership schemes, sponsorship and fundraising to agreed targets. The post holder also has responsibility for accurate and efficient budget management.

You will effectively manage the Development team (currently made up of two Development Officers and Development Assistant) ensuring effective and efficient customer service and systems. In addition to this you will also work closely with the Senior Management team.

In this key role you will produce an annual Development Strategy with agreed objectives and financial targets in conjunction with the Marketing & Communications Director and ensure that all financial targets are achieved via the Corporate Membership scheme, Friends Individual membership schemes, sponsorship, individual giving schemes, and one off donations. You will also manage all income generating schemes, overseeing the account management of all members, ensuring membership retention, excellent customer service and delivery of agreed benefits.  To ensure maintenance of a full and accurate database using the organisation’s Customer Relationship Management System, Tessitura.

The successful candidate will have previous experience of working in a fundraising environment and working within a development team in a cultural organisation. Account management knowledge at a senior level is essential along with experience of managing team members is required. An understanding of working with a Development Committee and managing fundraising memberships schemes is also needed.

Due to the nature of the role you will have a flexible adaptable approach to working and be responsive to changing business priorities which will require evening and weekend work on occasion.
