Salary: £35,000- £40,000 pro rata depending on experience

Hours: 28 hours

FORWARD is the leading African women led organisation working on female genital mutilation, child marriage and maternal health in the UK and Africa. For over 30 years we have been committed to safeguarding the rights and dignity of African girls and women. We do this through community engagement, grassroots partnerships, international advocacy, training and research.

FORWARD is seeking an experienced and committed Head of Impact and Development who will lead the business development, communications, impact and monitoring of our new strategic plan. As a new Head of Impact and Development you will be responsible of management and strategic oversight. You will ensure a culture of robust monitoring, evaluation and learning. You will oversee the provision of programme development and quality assurance. You will represent FORWARD externally and lead our overall communications.

Job Purpose

  1. The Head of Development and Impact is a new role that will be responsible for building and executing the development and impact functions at FORWARD as we start to roll out our new strategic plan. You will support the UK and Africa programme teams to develop a culture of evidence based planning, annual fundraising development plans and review.
  2. You will lead the work of the development, research and communications staff, and will be directly responsible for shaping FORWARD’s strategy. This will include identifying new business opportunities, building relationships and overseeing internal and external communications.
  3. You will provide technical support, advice and capacity development to staff and FORWARD partners and lead on knowledge management, research and designing programmes that are innovative and robustly evaluated.  This will include overseeing the assessment of annual organisational key performance indicators, dissemination and learning.
  4. You will contribute to the overall strategic management of the organisation as a core member of the Senior Management Team and represent the organisation in high level meetings and events.
