Head of Influencing and Communications 

The Stroke Association is the leading UK stroke charity. We have been leading the fight against stroke for over 20 years. We influence and campaign to improve stroke care and support people to make the best possible recovery. 

This is a very exciting time for our charity and we hope you will join us on our journey. We believe in a world where there are fewer strokes and all those touched by stroke get the help they need. 

We fund world-class research to develop new treatments and ways to prevent the devastation of stroke. Breakthroughs in treatment have halved the number of people dying from stroke in the UK but it is still the second biggest killer in the world. That is why we are involved in projects across the globe. 

Position: Head of Influencing and Communications 
Location: Cardiff, Wales 
Contract type: Permanent 
Hours: 35 hours per week 
Salary: Circa £40,000.00 per annum

This is an excellent opportunity for a dynamic leader to join the Senior Management Team in Wales and drive our vision through our influencing work. This key role includes leading the external policy and influencing as well as our communications strategies for the charity in Wales. 

You will be an excellent bilingual communicator and have a sound understanding of the Welsh media and political scenes, and the policies and legislation affecting people affected by stroke in Wales. 

Working collaboratively with stroke survivors and their carers, you will be an empathetic, determined and experienced ambassador as well as a skilled negotiator to champion our cause; engaging with top policy makers, commentators and influencers. 

This is a fast-paced, challenging and complex role, requiring a wide set of skills that include: sound leadership, strategy development, bilingual communication delivery and using influencing skills to achieve positive change. 

You will show excellent interpersonal skills to lead a dedicated team in Wales and successfully manage a diverse range of collaborative internal and external relationships. 

Travel to meetings around the UK and occasional overnight stays are a requirement of this post.
