The Role 
 
As our Supporter Engagement Assistant, you will join our Fundraising Team to help us build strong and lasting relationships with our charity's supporters and donors.  

Reporting to the Supporter Engagement Officer, you will deliver excellent customer service over the telephone, in written (email and postal) communications and face to face and ensure that supporters' details are accurately recorded on the CRM database. You will be representing the charity, explaining its purpose, and demonstrating our charity values to donors/supporters, showing appropriate empathy to those who may have cancer or a family member/friend who does.  

This role provides a great opportunity to make a real difference to the people of Yorkshire and requires someone with a friendly manner, good team-working skills, great customer service and excellent organisational skills.  
 

Specifically, you will: 

• Ensure supporter communications are accurate, timely and appropriate to the recipient. This includes following the relevant pathways to process donations, record legacy pledges, update key information so that the communication is tailored and relevant to the individual supporter. 

• Update supporter records on our database to reflect changes in marketing permissions, personal details, the charity's relationship with the supporter (e.g. Volunteer/ Donor/ Brand Ambassador etc.) and any communications had between the supporter & the charity. 

• Use the CRM System to run supplied data queries to deliver campaigns (e.g. using Mail Merge) and to create and deliver supporter communications, this includes printing and posting letters and sending emails, making updates to supporter records and fulfilling requests for information. 

• Work alongside the Supporter Engagement Officer & Individual Giving Manager to improve the initial welcome for newly acquired regular donors and the onwards stewardship journey for all supporters. Conducting research and contributing ideas to improve the supporter journeys and implementing these processes independently. 

• Undertake other duties and take on a lead role in supporting projects relevant to the purpose of the role as requested by members of the CRM, Marketing, Fundraising or Research & Services teams. 

• Monitor inbound emails to the charity in the supporter care inbox, forwarding to the relevant colleague (if unable to provide a response) or responding and actioning.

About You 

To be considered for this role, you will need: 

• To have a qualification in a relevant discipline and/or proven experience working in a similar role, such as customer service. 

• To have evidence of continued professional development relevant to the role purpose and level. 

• To have customer service experience in a similar or related role (e.g. telephony/ databases/ office). 

• To have high computer literacy with comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, especially Word, Excel and Outlook. 

• To have previous experience of working with databases (e.g. Access or Raiser's Edge).

• To be happy to work independently and ask for support where this is needed, but also like to both work with and support colleagues as part of a team working towards a common goal. 

• To have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with an ability to use active listening skills, and write professionally and appropriately for a range of diverse audiences. Has a good grasp of grammar, spelling and of the spoken word. 

• To have strong organisational skills and performs their work to an extremely high level of accuracy and professionalism, paying close attention to detail. 

• To be able to present data and information in a way that is helpful and actionable to others.

External Support 3rd line support from a specialist IT company (remote; on-site as nec.)

Main Purpose and Scope of the Role

This is BAU support for staff and on-site/network IT infrastructure. If successful, you will liaise closely with our external IT consultancy, for bespoke 3rd line support, regarding our core IT infrastructure (software, hardware, server and network). You will be the first point of support for your colleagues’ IT needs. You will report on and advise senior management of the IT risks and cybersecurity needs. You prioritise your own work, documenting and communicating progress.

 Key Responsibilities:

● Troubleshoot IT based systems, hardware, and software issues for colleagues

● Onboard/offboard employees for IT system; set up all user credentials

● Manage devices for circa fifty staff using GoTo Resolve (our MDM/RMM tool)

● Help staff with Google, Windows, email, VPN and applications like Staffology HR

● Support Senior Team with roll-out of our first self-service HR portal for all staff

● Manage device inventory and purchase new supplies and equipment as needed

● Liaise and negotiate with external IT service providers (eg. EE, Croft, Google)

● Ensure all IT hardware and software is well maintained (documenting actions)

● Develop and update IT policies, subject to board approval

● Advise Senior Team on cost-effective digital forward planning and investment

● Support Senior Team to create a cybersecurity strategy (based on security audit)

● Outside IT Manager builds and maintains the organisation’s network and server

Person Specification

Essential Skills and Qualifications: 

1. Experience of either Customer Service, Charitable Sector or Small Business

2. Trouble-shooting experience while providing remote and onsite IT tech support

3. Documentation of IT processes, good time management skills and attention to detail

4. On-site management of Active Directory, Network Access Storage (inc. RAID)

5. Proficient in Windows 10/11 & Home/Pro, MS Office and MDM/RMM tools

6. Ethernet cabling experience (crimping etc.) We have loads of structured cabling!

7. Working knowledge of information data security and mitigation of cyber risks

8. Aptitude for IT skills development and staying on top of current industry standards

9. Good problem-solving and communication skills, being able to think on your feet

10. Good working knowledge of: Website CMS & Google Workspace (formerly G-Suite)

Desirable Skills and Qualifications:

11. Basic networking skills e.g:

● CompTIA A+ or experience of office IT support function

● CompTIA Security+, or CompTIA Network+, or CCNA 200-301 certification

Role Requirements

 As part of the site services team the role holder will be expected to liaise with managers and staff across the Trust. The role holder is expected to work closely with the other members of the facilities team and assist in covering in the laundry, in the deep clean team or other works as and when required.

You will be a natural and enthusiastic housekeeper working not only as part of a team but also individually. You will be health and safety aware, take ownership of your own work, and be understanding of the children’s needs here at The Children’s Trust. Good organisational skills, flexibility and being friendly and caring in nature are a must for this role. Please note that the role requires a significant degree of manual handling and working with houses services and laundry equipment.

With experience of working in a complex environment, across a large and diverse workforce, you will be exceptionally organised with a high-level of attention to detail. You will naturally possess excellent inter-personal skills, and an ability to consult and positively engage with key stakeholders across the organisation.

At Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice we care for children and young people whose lives are just too short. Our aim is to reach every family that needs our help and to offer them the very best choice of care. Did you know that every year we need to raise £5m to keep our doors open and only around 20 percent of our income comes from government sources? The rest has to be raised through fundraising activity. 

Our services include short overnight stays and community breaks at home or in the hospice. We also support the whole family from diagnosis with our multi-disciplinary Family Support team who provide counselling, sibling support groups, music therapy and much more. Our care team supports these families in our modern, purpose built building. All our rooms/bedrooms have a homely feel. We have a sensory room, spa pool, cinema room and six acres of gardens. 

We support families from a large geographical area, including South Yorkshire, North Nottinghamshire, North Derbyshire and parts of North Lincolnshire. The hospice is easily accessible from Barnsley, Rotherham, Doncaster, Sheffield and North Notts. We have free secure on-site parking for families and staff to use.

The role

As part of re designing our services, we are currently seeking three children’s nurses with post registration experience, to join our In House Care Team. You will be working as part of a supportive team consisting of Team Leads, Nurses and care support workers and allied health professionals. Working as part of a team you will provide a high standard of holistic care and be able to balance opportunities for children to experience play, social interaction and learning alongside managing the diverse nursing needs of the children staying with us.

This role works across the organisation on numerous programmes that are integral to the work of the regulator. You will be supporting the two Policy managers to enforce minister policies from Central Government departments. The team within this regulator regularly promotes internally.

Your new role
The successful candidate will be:

• Manage policy initiatives from start to finish and provide support to the development of the standards to key internal and external stakeholders.
• Work collaboratively across the organisation to contribute to a programme of cross-org policy initiatives.
• Conduct desk-based research to support policy development, ensuring evidence-based policy decisions are being made.
• Engage with internal and external stakeholders, including facilitating workshops, focus groups and policy forums.
• Work closely with colleagues from the devolved nations and NI.
