Our Parkinson’s Virtual Biotech is our flagship programme for creating new treatments for Parkinson’s, based on the needs and priorities of people living with Parkinson’s.

We are deploying £5M per year to fund preclinical and early clinical stage projects in biotechs and contract research organisations to bring new treatments to people living with Parkinson’s.

About the role 

You’ll apply expert knowledge of drug discovery principles and practices to guide the deployment of over £25m in funding through the Parkinson’s Virtual Biotech programme. As part of the Virtual Biotech team you will evaluate new project proposals, manage our interactions with funded projects, and liaise with external partners and the Parkinson’s community, whilst maintaining professional knowledge and networks. 

You’ll lead on our funding and oversight of some of our projects and support others; including developing robust project plans with the sponsor, featuring efficient use of external resource providers (e.g. for medicinal chemistry, compound synthesis, computational chemistry, crystallography, ADME/physchem profiling, IP handling).

What you’ll do:

• Provide expert management and leadership for the charity’s ongoing preclinical projects to ensure studies are delivered on time and on budget, and participate in joint steering committees and other advisory meetings, providing expert scientific and strategic insight

• Bring new initiatives and working practices to the Virtual Biotech, as appropriate, contribute to the design and evaluation of novel compounds, and identify and evaluate candidate service providers for project work packages

• Solicit external proposals for new projects and develop internal project proposals, and critically review the relevant aspects of internal and external new drug discovery project proposals

• Represent Parkinson’s UK in collaborations, with consortia and at scientific meetings, and interact with people with Parkinson’s and involve them in projects in order to increase the opportunities to deliver new drugs that meet unmet medical needs

What you’ll bring:

• Extensive drug discovery experience with at least 5 years spent in pharma or biotech environments, and a doctoral degree in a relevant discipline (Ph.D., M.D., D.Phil.)

• Expert knowledge of small molecule drug discovery principles and practices including experience of compound design and evaluation, and experience of neuroscience drug discovery

• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present complex information in suitable formats for both scientific and lay audiences, and ability to compile project proposals/reports suitable for scientific and non-scientific audiences

• Track record of proposing new projects, with significant experience of project management and leadership skills from initiation to completion/review including selecting and working with CROs

Audit Project Coordinator

The National Paediatric Diabetes Audit (NPDA) Project Coordinator is a crucial role for the College in which you will support the delivery of a high-quality national clinical audit along with supporting improvements in clinical care for children and young people with diabetes, and their families.

As Audit Project Coordinator, you will coordinate the collection of high-quality audit data, and be responsible for coordinating sub-projects and spotlight audits.

Acting as the first point of contact for audit process and data enquiries received from hospital units, regional network leads and other stakeholder organisations, you will take responsibility for responding to each enquiry using your detailed knowledge of the audit methodology.

You will also respond to queries relating to the NPDA methodology and support paediatric services within NHS Health Boards, Trusts and Networks to understand and use NPDA results to inform quality improvement activities, as well as monitoring NPDA participation rates to define, execute and promote improvements to data submission processes.

Reporting to the NPDA Project Manager, you will conduct testing and quality assurance of audit software systems, liaising with software developers to evaluate, improve and update online data submission and reporting processes, whilst preparing updates to project webpages, user guidance and promotional materials for audit submission and participation. In addition, you will coordinate project webinars, workshops and national events for the NPDA and represent the NPDA at conferences to help promote NPDA activities.

You will also prepare and disseminate audit outputs and publications for different audiences, including audit commissioners and funders, children, young people and families, and NHS services participating in the audit.

Degree qualified or with equivalent experience in a mathematical or numerate discipline, you should have proven experience of producing high-quality written reports and promotional information, suitable for a range of audiences.

With strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills, a high level of numeracy and the ability to interrogate large, complex datasets in Excel or statistical packages, you should have a background of working in a health-related or research setting.

Your project management experience along with your proven organisational skills and your ability to adopt an orderly and precise approach to work should ensure you are able to take personal responsibility for your own projects.

Demonstrable experience of engaging and communicating with stakeholders effectively, along with a proven understanding of information governance, data protection and confidentiality processes are essential.

A project management certification/qualification, knowledge and experience of the use of statistical packages, and a general understanding of a clinical audit and the reasons why clinical conditions are audited locally and nationally, would be desirable. 

The Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health sets and maintains standards for the education and training of all doctors working in paediatrics and child health in the UK. About the role

Using your internal communications skills and understanding of organisational change management, you’ll coordinate, plan and deliver effective engagement strategies for internal change programmes across the charity. 

Working primarily between the Internal Engagement & Communications and Delivery Services teams, you’ll collaborate on, plan, and deliver  communication strategies that take colleagues on a supported journey through change, creating content that translates complex topics into compelling narratives to drive participation and adoption.

This is a fixed term contract for a duration of 12 months

What you’ll do:

• Manage and deliver an engagement strategy for internal change communications within the charity, which helps support colleagues with the understanding and adoption of change.

• Plan and create content for internal channels, selecting the most appropriate tools to ensure colleagues are kept informed and engaged, regardless of location or working style.

• Use audience and business insight to develop engagement strategies that are tailored to recipients, appreciating that colleagues are based in different locations and roles.

• Oversee the involvement of various groups across the charity, to enable us to hear the voices and opinions of our workforce.

• Proven experience in developing and implementing successful internal communication and engagement strategies, ideally including for change related programmes

You’ll be at the heart of our annual iconic campaign to maximise the positive impact from World Parkinson’s Day, in April every year, to ensure the delivery in the most efficient, impactful and relevant manner to both our core audiences and throughout the charity. 

You will communicate with and coordinate colleagues across multiple teams in the charity and in the Parkinson’s Community in the shared purpose of inspiring the Parkinson’s community to support the campaign and engage with our charity. It will involve high profile brand awareness activity, digital, social media as well as local community involvement and fundraising initiatives to further establish the charity as the ‘go to’ for people with Parkinson’s, those who support them and our supporters.

You’ll bring skills gained in campaign and project management and support the evaluation of the previous campaign to inform development of new activity,  help colleagues and supporters understand its impact and embedding key insights / learning.

This is a fixed term contract for a duration of 7 months 

What you’ll do:

• Operationally plan and project manage the WPD campaign, leading on preparatory work and building systems and processes to ensure its success.

• Prepare project plan and help align activity with existing BAU and other strategic campaigns in the External Relations Directorate and the Studio

• Work with the Campaign Strategy Lead to  define wider KPIs to measure the campaign’s success, identify opportunities and manage risks.

• Build knowledge of and commitment to the campaign with key teams and with the senior leadership team and trustees. Provide feedback to colleagues, communicating project learning and celebrating successes

• To coordinate the sub-contracting relationship with the supporting provider in Edgbaston to achieve NNS outcomes.

• Create and implement an effective marketing plan to promote the project.

The Project Manager, National Paediatric Diabetes Audit (NPDA) is an influential role for the College as you will project manage and deliver a high quality and impactful national clinical audit which will support improvements in paediatric diabetes services and networks and clinical care for patients and their families.

As Project Manager of the NPDA, you will lead the development and delivery of the audit including the overall audit methodology and production of periodic reports, following project, risk and budgetary management principles of each deliverable through to completion. 

Reporting to the Head of Audits, you will drive forward the incremental improvements of delivery of care to children and young people with diabetes by leading the development of quality improvement and patient engagement activities, whilst also leading the development and delivery of systems for public reporting of audit key performance data in the public domain. You will also ensure that the audit findings are disseminated widely and effectively and will take responsibility for delivering presentations on the audit findings to commissioners and funders, as well as clinical and patient stakeholders.

In addition, you will assess the audit’s impact, viability, scalability and legacy potential and assist in identifying the potential for future funding and development of tender applications. Ensuring audit contracts and supplier contracts are appropriately tendered, drafted, agreed, monitored and managed, you will also take the lead on the preparation for contract review meetings with commissioners, providing project progress and financial reports as required.

Degree qualified or with equivalent experience within a healthcare or research discipline, you should have proven experience of working in health-related audit or research in a university or NHS setting (or other relevant organisation) and be capable of producing high quality written reports, documentation and promotional information suitable for a range of audiences. 

With outstanding contract management and negotiating skills and a recent and successful track record in a management role, you should also have line management experience and be able to take personal responsibility for your projects, whilst delegating, managing and assuring the work of others.

Your demonstrable knowledge of statistical concepts and data cleaning, processing and management, your high level of numeracy and your ability to interpret the interrogation of large, complex datasets will ensure you are able to deliver multiple objectives within short time frames to high standards and to meet multiple deadlines.

Experience of developing and delivering quality improvement and patient engagement activities along with experience of working on the development of an application programming interface (API) to allow software applications talk to each other for the purpose of secure data exchange, would be desirable.

We are medical experts applying our skills and knowledge to make a difference in the world. We bring together the global community of medical imaging professionals to make the case for diagnostic imaging.

Since 2017, Worldwide Radiology has been steadily growing from a small group of founding UK radiologists with experience of working in limited resource settings to an international team of around 50 long-term volunteers from a range of different imaging and clinical backgrounds.

We support the development of appropriate, high quality imaging services in low and middle income countries; from central teaching hospitals to remote district clinics. Overview

The Programme Manager role will be crucial to the success and development of the charity. You will be responsible for the management and delivery of 3+ Worldwide Radiology projects, operating across Malawi, Ghana and The Gambia.

The Programme Manager will be responsible for quickly grasping the needs of three ongoing projects, steering them toward desired impact, ensuring compliance with donor requirements, and managing risks effectively to bring these projects into shape.

The successful candidate will be responsible for working with key stakeholders, including our volunteers, partners and donors to build and nurture strong working relationships. 

​

They will contribute to seeking out further grant opportunities within the sector, working closely with the rest of the programmes team and the fundraising team.

The key responsibilities of this post are as follows:

(a) oversee the smooth running of our projects; 

(b) provide strong, holistic solutions, focused on operational leadership; and

Role-Specific Responsibilities

1. Provide overall day-to-day management for WWR projects and WWR volunteers, reporting directly to the WWR Director.

2. Oversee the development and operational execution of detailed work-plans and budgets for WWR programme

3. Track all milestones and reporting schedules, taking timely action to ensure they are met.

4. Develop and deliver project MEAL activities in collaboration with our external MEAL consultant.

5. Produce (gather, collate and edit)  high quality, timely project progress, annual and donor-specific reports.

6. Oversee the management of partnership agreements and contracts in accordance with the donor specific requirements.

7. Support the identification and securing of new grant opportunities in collaboration with the programmes and fundraising teams.

8. Communicate administrative and technical information to WWR project partners in a timely, sensitive and effective manner.

9. Assist team members, volunteers, partners and members of the public with queries, demonstrating tact and understanding when dealing with complex and serious issues, deliver a consistently high and appropriate level of service and support to individuals contacting WWR.

10. Assist with recruitment, onboarding, induction and management of both UK and international WWR volunteers.
     

Qualifications and Experience

• Educated to degree level or equivalent work experience.

• Experience in grant or contract management in a humanitarian or development environment.

Capital Campaign Lead – Major Gifts
Location:  Cambridge, Melbourn, or Norwich / Hybrid Working*
Hours: 37.5 hours per week

*Although based from any of our offices, you will need to spend time in Cambridgeshire to deliver the role.  Hybrid working allows for two days a week to be worked from home.

As Capital Campaign Lead for Major Gifts, you will work with the Head of Philanthropy and Capital Appeals, and colleagues in the Philanthropy Team and across EAAA, to secure transformational campaign gifts.

You will be responsible for managing your own portfolio of major gift prospects and donors, making compelling face-to-face asks, and supporting the Campaign Committee and senior staff to solicit the all-important lead campaign gifts.

You will work with colleagues, including clinical crews and pilots, to devise and deliver unique and personalised stewardship plans, ensuring that donors and prospects are inspired to support the campaign and to continue supporting our work long into the future.

You will also be instrumental in building the prospect pipeline, contributing to prospecting strategy meetings and conducting research to uncover new potential avenues of support to develop.

With previous experience within the fundraising sector, you will have a proven track record in supporting the solicitation of gifts of £15,000+. You will have experience of managing projects with multiple stakeholders, forecasting, planning, and setting KPIs, and working with CRM systems.
