Job description

Our Senior Play Worker will sit at the core of our Children, Young People and Families Team, working as the senior practitioner and ensuring the smooth running of all our programmes and services. You will be part of a small and dynamic team which delivers a wide range of programmes and activities from our adventure playground and within local schools.

Reporting to the Children, Young People and Families Manager, you will be the senior practitioner in all our delivery, advocating for children’s right to play. You will lead on the delivery and planning of all sessions, ensuring that the children’s ideas are central in the constructing of the play environment. You will also monitor and evaluate activities in line with the Every Child Matters Framework, Play Work Principles and requirements from our funders.

The work of the Children, Young People and Families is diverse, and current services include an adventure playground, coaching in local schools, homework clubs, youth work provision, and out of school and holiday services. You will ensure all of these services are appropriately scheduled, monitored and reported on whilst working with the Children, Young People and Families Manager to plan and deliver service improvement. You will understand the wide-ranging challenges facing young people and will be flexible in adjusting your practice to meet these needs.

Within your team, you will also hold responsibility for communications and outreach - promote our services across Tulse Hill and deliver ongoing and targeted outreach programmes to ensure our services are reaching those who need them most. A strong understanding of how your team sits within the wider work of the organisation and building strong relationships internally, as well as using your excellent communication skills to work within the wider community, is essential to the role.

Hours will include evenings and weekends.
