Senior Community Engagement & Outreach Worker with Leicester Garment Workers Advice & Support Project (L-GWASP) at Highfields Centre - Application dealine extended to the 7th October 2021
We are looking for: a full-time (37 hours) dynamic community minded and multi-lingual individual with excellent listening and communication skills who understands the issues facing garment workers in Greater Highfields, and is able to initiate and develop appropriate responses.
This post is initially funded for 12 months* by major clothing brands and trade unions, specifically to respond to the well-documented and publicised issues about Leicester’s garment factories and their workers.
The Senior CEOW will work closely with those garment workers (including their families), as well as relevant employers, trade unions and community groups, and play an important contribution in how they (post their Covid-19 experiences) return to take up employment and access our and other local projects’ services for both their general and more specific work related needs. The successful candidate is expected to be not only understanding and responsive but also professional, informative and contribute to the quality and safety of the garment workers’ employment and their general wellbeing.
This work is a key part of the Apparel & Garment Merchandise Public Private Protocol’s activities, and funding is expected to continue for (at least) a second year.
Applications should be submitted by 5pm on Thursday 7th October 2021 and interviews are scheduled for Tuesday 12th October 2021
