Job description
They are looking for a Governance Manager to support their Company Secretary & Chief of Staff by providing excellent governance and decision-making arrangements for them.

This is an important new role charged with developing effective processes and procedures and providing expert advice on governance to colleagues at all levels across the institute.

Governance Manager Responsibilities:

• Planning, managing, and coordinating the work of senior level meetings, including developing agendas, quality assurance and, distributing meeting papers, taking minutes of complex and sensitive discussions, and following up on agreed actions.
• Developing and updating governance policies and procedures, using expert knowledge and best practice.
• Maintaining statutory registers and records, for example, information recorded by the Charity Commission and Companies House, the register of directors and ‘fit and proper person’ declarations
• Supporting the Company Secretary in complying with statutory filing and reporting requirements – Companies House, Charity Commission and OSCR
• Supervising the governance work of the Governance and Executive Support Officer, who is line managed by the Executive Office Manager

Governance Manager Requirements:

Significant experience and success in supporting committees and meetings is essential as well as strong theoretical and practical knowledge of charity and/or corporate governance best practice.

A keen problem solver with meticulous accuracy, you will have a proven ability to manage your workload when under pressure to meet multiple deadlines. Your attitude is equally as important as your experience, and you must have a diplomatic and helpful approach with excellent people skills.

Contract Type: Permanent
Hours: Full Time, 36 per week
Salary: up to £40,000 per annum
