Our client is a highly respected independent charity, which together with its subsidiary, they work across England and Wales to develop and deliver a range of innovative services, providing practical and emotional support to prisoners’ children and families, to prisoners, and to ex-prisoners.

Position: Mentoring Coordinator
Location: Homebased with travel across West Yorkshire
Job type: Part Time, Fixed Term Contract
Hours: 18.75 hours per week
Salary: £10,500 (FTE £21,000)

About the role:

They are looking for a Mentoring Co-Ordinator to deliver mentoring support to prisoners as part of their Through The Gate service within the West Yorkshire region. The role will provide direct support to newly released prisoners as well as managing a team of volunteers to do the same. The service will combine specialist support before release as well as mentoring support after release.

About you:

The successful candidate will have experience of recruiting and managing volunteers, along with experience of delivering training and coaching, both in groups and on a one-to-one basis. You’ll have experience of working in the criminal justice field (or similar) as well as experience and knowledge of safeguarding, and health and safety implications, ideally in supporting lone workers.

High level communication skills, organisation, the ability to lead and motivate others and relationship building skills are key to success in this role. You’ll also be able to demonstrate empathy with those involved in the criminal justice system and a commitment to their  inclusive culture.

The ability to travel across the region with access to own transport is also a key requirement.

Please be aware that this role is subject to prison clearance, an enhanced DBS and references.
