Job description

1. JOB PURPOSE

Responsible to the Project Manager to provide overall policy, day to day management for provision of flats and services, individual support, and assistance to tenants, for promotion and development of the scheme in order to meet the needs of young homeless people aged between 16 to 25 years.

3. JOB ACTIVITIES

A] Management and administration of flats

A.1 Ensure flats are cleaned when empty and maintained to a quality standard to meet HHT health & Safety Policy, using outside contractors where necessary.

A.2 Ensure that the maintenance of the flats, office, common areas and all buildings is upheld, and proper procedures followed.

A.3 Maintain an inventory of all equipment, appliances, and furniture. Liaise with the Manager where appropriate for replacements, renewals, repairs, and improvements.

A.4 Maintain a safe and healthy living and work environment.

 

B] Welfare of tenants

B.1 Implement HHT Tenant Selection Procedure.

B.2 Administer new sign ups, liaising with the appropriate social landlord, to ensure the client is well informed of their responsibilities and liabilities. Ensure all utilities, benefits, submission of applications to appropriate authorities are in order.

B.3 Establish the support plan tailored to individual need and ensure that this is re-assessed as an ongoing process.

B.4 Maintain regular contact with clients to promote good working relationships, communication, and a communal, safe environment.

B.5 Provide reasonable practical support to clients in management of the flats, budgeting, health issues, employment, education and in other appropriate areas of housing management.

B.6 Ensure advice and assistance is available and kept up to date on issues relating to client’s welfare, legal and housing rights, and opportunities. To liaise with outside agencies to provide maximum quality of service.

B.7 Provide one-to-one counselling in a confidential and professional manner to the standard of service HHT can provide. To refer to specialist agencies for in-depth needs.

B.8 Organise group activities.

B.9 Encourage client participation and develop initiatives and enhance client participation.

B.10 Provide a move on service to the clients, which will help the clients to meet their particular requirements, where appropriate. To liaise with social landlords, local authorities and any other establishments which would be deemed as a benefit to the clients.

B.11 Deal with all crises in a sensitive and fair manner. Adhere to tenant disciplinary and rent arrears policy.

B.12 In conjunction with the staff team, hold regular Voice meeting, ensuring attendance by clients and all tenants are informed of the decisions made at these meetings.

B.13 Assist with after care support for a limited period.

 

C] Staff

C.1 Assist with implementing HHT Recruitment Policy once a vacancy for a post becomes available. Encourage client participation in the process of selection.

C.2 Assist, as directed, with the induction of new staff member

C.4 Attend “Core” training and other training identified the manager, yourself, or the Directors of the Company.

C.5 Participate in regular staff meetings to promote excellent communication and maintain professional standards.

C.6 Participate in consultation meetings on major development and policy initiatives.

C.7 Follow any grievance and disciplinary procedures as dictated by the Management Committee.

 

D] Financial Management

D.1 Ensure HHT collection of rent, banking and petty cash procedures are adhered to. To keep in regular contact with housing benefit so that client’s claims can be processed and any problems dealt with without delay.

 

E] Development and Promotion of HHT

E.1 Assist with carrying out research into potential expansion of facilities, liaising with similar projects where appropriate, and drafting outline proposals for presentation at Management Committee Meetings.

E.2 Keep informed about new legislative requirements and developments relating to young homeless people. Attending courses, conferences, and meetings.

E.3 Participate in community activities to ensure HHT is recognised by and plays its role in the community. At times, this includes discussion with neighbours and neighbourhood centers.

E.4 Promote the needs of young homeless people appropriately, seeking to develop an effective network of provision and co-operation between organisations, in particular for the benefit of HHT residents, past, present, and future.

E.5 Assist the manager in providing publicity of the project and representing the scheme in relevant national and local campaigns.

E.6 With close consultation with the staff team, monitors, and review HHT policies.

E.7 Assist with review and assessment of the project.

 

F] Administration

F.1 Carry out various clerical and administrative tasks, including correspondence, statistics, filing systems and other records.

F.2 Assist with the production of publicity materials, such as annual reports and leaflets, etc.

 

G] Management Committee

G.1 Service the committee as directed by its members.

G.2 Keep the Committee informed of all changes relevant to the project and their responsibilities as a Director of a Company.

G.4 Assist the directors to recruit new members particularly encouraging ex-clients, clients, and local resident participation.

 

H] Miscellaneous duties

H.1 Undertake any other relevant duties as directed.
