Katherine Low Settlement is a charity that has been serving Battersea and the wider Wandsworth community since 1924. We are dedicated to building stronger communities and enable people to challenge and find ways out of poverty and isolation.

We run a range of our own community projects to tackle poverty and isolation, and empower and support children, young people and their families, older people, women and refugee communities. We campaign for social change. We also incubate and support local charities and social businesses to thrive, so together we can meet the diverse needs of the local communities of Wandsworth. Each week we work with 28+ charities supporting more than 1,000 people.

Katherine Low Settlement’s work with older people

Katherine Low Settlement has worked with older people since its conception in 1924.They are a core part of the community that we continue to work with. We provide, often in partnership, a range of projects and activities for older people including health and wellbeing; creative arts; intergenerational work; connecting people and trips/outings. Our services include an Older People's Lunch Club, Contact Club, T’ai Chi for Elders, exercise and social sessions, and support online.

We work with older people to:

• Encourage active and independent living

• Reduce isolation and loneliness

• Improve well-being and prevent ill-health

• Enable older residents to be dynamic and contributing members of the Wandsworth community.

Key Objectives for the Elders Core Service Manager Role:

1. Team Leadership: Lead a team of dedicated part-time paid staff and volunteers, including a cook, support worker, minibus driver, and sessional workers.
2. Day-to-Day Management: Manage the day-to-day operations of the Elders Core Service, including the lunch club, transport, social sessions, and overseeing the one-to-one work of the core team.
3. Collaboration: Work collaboratively with the wider team to provide a hands-on program that builds on older people's strengths and potential.
4. Monitoring and Evaluation: Support the monitoring and evaluation of the project in collaboration with the Head of Programme.
5. Budget Management: Ensure the program operates within budget constraints.
6. Member Engagement: Support the planning of the core program with input from elder members and the wider team.
7. Recruitment and Support: Recruit and support new and existing members (service users).

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

1. Delivery

• Planning and Oversight: Ensure that all service output aligns with KLS' vision, mission, values, and charitable objectives. Organize and promote one-off activities throughout the year.
• Transport Management: Manage the transport offer, including route planning and pick-up schedules.
• Record Keeping: Maintain accurate activity records, registers, and casework notes for the core team.
• Outreach and Support: Conduct outreach work with older people in the community, oversee home visits, and manage a small caseload.

2. Staff and Volunteer Management

• Recruitment and Line Management: Recruit and manage the Outreach and Support Workers, Lunch Club Cook, and relevant social activities workers and volunteers.
• Performance Management: Use performance management and quality systems to monitor and evaluate the project's work and processes.

3. Relationships, Communication, and Networks

• Member Engagement: Build and sustain strong relationships with elder members.
• Communication: Oversee communication for the Core Programme, including newsletters, activities calendar, annual reports, and social media platforms.
• Meetings: Attend meetings on behalf of the Core Programme as required.

4. Finance

• Budget Management: Manage project areas to budget and maintain financial records as agreed with the Head of Programme.

5. Other Duties

• Professional Development: Participate in regular management supervision and annual appraisal. Identify job-related development and training needs.
• Professional Conduct: Professionally undertake roles, maintaining a high-quality standard of work in line with KLS's aims, values, and ethos.

As the Training Programmes Manager you will have oversight and responsibility for the healthcare professional training projects and activities, as well as growing the M4RD network within HCP groups and training institutions.

We are medical experts applying our skills and knowledge to make a difference in the world. We bring together the global community of medical imaging professionals to make the case for diagnostic imaging.

Since 2017, Worldwide Radiology has been steadily growing from a small group of founding UK radiologists with experience of working in limited resource settings to an international team of around 50 long-term volunteers from a range of different imaging and clinical backgrounds.

We support the development of appropriate, high quality imaging services in low and middle income countries; from central teaching hospitals to remote district clinics. Overview

The Programme Manager role will be crucial to the success and development of the charity. You will be responsible for the management and delivery of 3+ Worldwide Radiology projects, operating across Malawi, Ghana and The Gambia.

The Programme Manager will be responsible for quickly grasping the needs of three ongoing projects, steering them toward desired impact, ensuring compliance with donor requirements, and managing risks effectively to bring these projects into shape.

The successful candidate will be responsible for working with key stakeholders, including our volunteers, partners and donors to build and nurture strong working relationships.

They will contribute to seeking out further grant opportunities within the sector, working closely with the rest of the programmes team and the fundraising team.

Role-Specific Responsibilities

1. Provide overall day-to-day management for WWR projects and WWR volunteers, reporting directly to the WWR Director.

2. Oversee the development and operational execution of detailed work-plans and budgets for WWR programme

3. Track all milestones and reporting schedules, taking timely action to ensure they are met.

4. Develop and deliver project MEAL activities in collaboration with our external MEAL consultant.

5. Produce (gather, collate and edit)  high quality, timely project progress, annual and donor-specific reports.

6. Oversee the management of partnership agreements and contracts in accordance with the donor specific requirements.

7. Support the identification and securing of new grant opportunities in collaboration with the programmes and fundraising teams.

8. Communicate administrative and technical information to WWR project partners in a timely, sensitive and effective manner.

9. Assist team members, volunteers, partners and members of the public with queries, demonstrating tact and understanding when dealing with complex and serious issues, deliver a consistently high and appropriate level of service and support to individuals contacting WWR.

10. Assist with recruitment, onboarding, induction and management of both UK and international WWR volunteers.

• Educated to degree level or equivalent work experience.

We’re surrounded by junk food. From the moment we're born, every second of every day, children are being targeted. Giant companies manipulate them with colourful, cuddly, clever marketing, deceive them with packaging claims and pump products at them that are full of junk. It's become the cultural wallpaper. Now, it risks endangering the health of a generation.

In the UK, nearly a third of children aged 2-15 face a higher risk of food-related ill health in their futures. The good news is, it's preventable. And we're biting back.

Bite Back is a youth activist movement challenging a food system that's been set up to fool us all by:

2) Demanding higher standards from food marketing and from everyday food itself.

About Bite Back in Schools 

Bite Back has delivered our youth social action programme — Bite Back in Schools— to over 120 schools over the last two years. Working with secondary schools, we have supported over 2,000 11-14 year olds to plan and deliver social action projects to prioritise child health by improving their school food. This could be by making nutritious and sustainable food the norm by increasing the flow of healthy options in their canteens, or by redesigning the school food experience to put healthy options in the spotlight.

With funding awarded from the #iWill Fund, we are recruiting a brilliant cohort of schools who will join the programme in September 2024. Our programme model combines an assembly delivered by a Bite Back young ambassador, five hours of curriculum time sessions for a whole year group, and our ever-popular and impactful School Food Champions (SFC) extra-curricular club. Role Description

The Programmes Manager plays a key role supporting our community of schools during their time on the programme. They will support the design and lead on the delivery of Bite Back in Schools to ensure the best possible user experience for young people, their teachers and their schools, and to ensure the programme makes the greatest possible impact.

The Programmes Manager  will report to the Head of Programmes, and will work closely with colleagues across Bite Back, in particular with our comms, digital, youth and policy teams, working within our Strategy and Delivery Function. 

Key responsibilities include:

Relationship management

• Provide ongoing support to schools throughout their time on the programme, building strong working relationships with participating schools. 

• Lead communication with all schools, being the first point of contact for the coordinator and lead teacher in each school.

• Support monitoring and evaluation through creation of surveys, ensuring completion of baseline and end of year surveys, and analysis of data submitted (in partnership with our external evaluators).

• Book and arrange assemblies, coordinating between schools and our Bite Back Ambassadors.

Community management 

• Celebrate and share examples of best practice and impactful social action projects amongst our community of schools.

• Design and deliver training and webinars for schools.

• Lead on the design and delivery of competitions for schools.

• Schedule and organise visits to schools, agreeing agendas with the schools in advance to include elements including meeting pupils and teachers, leading feedback sessions and focus groups and supporting the development of their social action campaigns.

• Drafting of termly newsletters and regular emails to schools.

• Create case studies and collate material to share with our comms and digital teams.

• Encourage teachers and pupils to use the new Bite Back digital platform to share their stories and projects, and take part in broader Bite Back campaigns.

• Grow our movement - supporting the recruitment of future cohorts by promoting the Bite Back in Schools programme, distributing recruitment comms, holding set up calls with interested schools, and guiding schools through the application and enrolment process, working closely with the Head of Programmes on the design of these processes.

Project management of systems and operational support

• Manage the SFC inbox, dealing with enquiries from schools and other partners.

• Process invoices related to the programme, liaising between schools and the Bite Back accounts team, and monitoring the monthly total payments made to schools.

• Manage the budget for specific areas of programme expenditure, such as merchandise and Ambassador training. 

• Creating and uploading new high quality session plans, resources and materials to our digital  platform as required.

• Design and maintain reporting systems to monitor levels of engagement of individual schools, flagging concerns and proactively finding ways to mitigate issues to ensure schools remain on the programme.

• Management of programmes section of Bite Back CRM system, keeping data up to date and accurate, and developing reports to share programme data with team and funders.

Programme design and improvement

• Identifying opportunities to optimise the potential of our programmes and proactively making suggestions for continuous improvement to our user experience, programme design and systems. 

• Proactively seek feedback on customer satisfaction, impact and service improvement and use this to inform suggestions for improvements.

• Feed your ideas into programme delivery and development.

• Support new pilots and interventions, including testing innovative ideas on the ground, as requested to enable Bite Back to develop our suite of programmes and maximise opportunities for new work to further our mission across the school sector.

Job Summary

Universify exists to create a fairer, more equal society where every young person can fulfil their potential regardless of their background. We equip young people from low socio-economic and underrepresented backgrounds with the skills, knowledge, and belief to fulfil their potential through education.

We work with Year 10-11 students (aged 14-16) to increase their aspirations, improve GCSE attainment and to gain a greater understanding of post-18 pathways, particularly university, to make a more informed decision about their future. We run a year-long programme, starting with a week-long summer residential at partner universities, monthly coaching sessions with Universify coaches and a 3-day GCSE-focused revision residential at Spring.

ABOUT THE ROLE

As the Programme Manager, you will manage the Programme Team to deliver the charity’s annual residential and coaching programme and impact reporting. You will act as the primary relationship holder for all existing major programme partners, including universities and other third sector organisations. During programme delivery, you will be a part of the team’s Safeguarding Leads and work with the Programme Team to ensure the safety and care of our participants.

You will report to the CEO and work with them to build relationships with new partners, and develop the charity’s ability to expand the programme by considering its impact data, needs of partners and stakeholders, and any changes to its programme model. • Provide expertise as a Level 3 safeguarding lead as part of the safeguarding team

• Excellent at coordinating a range of projects simultaneously; organised, adaptable, prioritises well and has good attention to detail

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills to cover a range of audiences and purposes (including impact reporting, written and verbal communication with schools, students, parents; PR; training)

• Some data analysis skills and an understanding of charity impact reporting, or a willingness to learn about impact reporting

• Works well in a small team and is interested in working in a small organisation

Required experience

We are looking for candidates with the following experience

• At least 2 years’ experience of working with young people, particularly vulnerable groups, including delivering programmes
• At least 2 years of project management experience
• At least 1 year’s experience of team management and line management
• Experience of managing and recruiting a range of stakeholders involved in programme delivery, particularly schools and volunteers
• Secure knowledge and experience of child safeguarding policy and practice. Level 3 Safeguarding Lead qualification or a willingness to obtain this as part of the role

Ideally, candidates would have experience in a few of the following areas:

• Experience managing residential programmes or large-scale events. Experience of designing educational programmes
• Experience working with schools and universities
• Coaching expertise and ability to train coaches
• Knowledge of recruitment strategies, especially in the voluntary sector
• Experience expanding programmes and identifying new opportunities to expand programmes
• Impact report writing and data analysis expertise

· Develop programme management for the growth of 150 new worshipping communities, with particular focus on governance for the Mission Hub strategy

Programme Manager - Centre of Expertise

The Programme Manager will work under the guidance of the Head of the Centre of Expertise to support the delivery of Westminster Foundation for Democracy (WFD’s) role in the Centre of Expertise, leading on the procurement, contracting, monitoring and management of WFD Experts. 

They will play an important and vital role within the team responsible for directly responding to requests from the Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) posts for expertise in democratic governance and for managing the deployment of experts where in-country visits are part of the terms of reference.

About You

​To be successful in this position, you will be an experienced Programme Manager with the following skills and experience.

​​Strong Programme Management experience and skills: At least five years’ proven track record in programme management, or in procurement or contracts administration with a background ideally in the international development sector.

• ​Previous experience working with the FCDO or on an FCDO-funded programme.
• Confidence in drafting and negotiating contracts.
• Good understanding of business processes including the outsource of procured services.
• Experience of implementing or strengthening processes to improve efficiency.
• Experience of and strong abilities in financial administration.
• Experience of working and supporting teams working remotely and cross-collaboration between multiple departments.

We are recruiting a Programme Manager to lead our grassroots consortium Better Bethnal Green (BBG) supporting young people facing multiple/complex disadvantages in the borough. Our partners and we are specialists in transforming the life trajectories of young people who have become marginalised by local poverty, unemployment and crime – particularly those from BAME communities who are disproportionately affected by these issues. 

The consortium will work to address violence in the Bethnal Green area, Tower Hamlets, London by working with key stakeholders, young people and local communities to provide a range of interventions, capacity building and support.
