Home-Start Camden and Islington is a voluntary organisation committed to promoting the welfare of families with at least one child under five years of age. Supported by dedicated and experienced staff, our volunteers offer regular support, friendship and practical help to families under stress in their own homes, helping to prevent family crisis and breakdown. 

We have secured funding to expand from our historic base in Camden to also deliver support to families in Islington, and have a strong track record of securing funding from a range of charitable trusts and major grant funders such as the BBC Children in Need. 

 

Role Description 

The Family Liaison Manager role is critical to the success of Home-Start Camden and Islington as it provides the direct interface between referrers, families, volunteers and the charity. The Family Liaison Manager role is to primarily manage a caseload of a minimum of 30 families, achieved through the ongoing support provided to our volunteers. They will be pivotal to the recruitment and training of volunteers, representing and promoting our service to referrers, and ensuring the needs of the families are met within agreed timescales.  

 

Core Responsibilities  

  • Provide active support to a minimum of 30 families at any one time 

  • Recruit volunteers and provide support, supervision, initial and ongoing training to ensure quality standards and safeguarding issues are monitored effectively 

  • Agree with Head of Delivery the family support needs upon referral and regular review of the waiting list to prioritise and allocate cases 

  • Assess the need of families referred to us and match and introduce volunteers 

  • Use the new Cloud based management information system to manage caseloads and ensure the quality of the data recorded and is compliant with GDPR legislation 

  • Provide caseload data extracts and reports to show progress against objectives and performance indicators  

  • Implement our policies and procedures to safeguard and promote children’s welfare 

  • Build relationships with referrers, health care professionals and multi-agency partners to promote the service to reach and help more families 

  • Seek out and undertake training concerning children and families that encourages the development of effective work with our families and volunteers 

  • Actively participate in the performance management process and take responsibility for your personal development and training needs
