Home-Start Horizons wants to see a society in which every parent has the support they need to give their children the best possible start in life. We support an average of 350 families per year, that’s around 700 children. Our volunteer led family support has a huge impact, supporting positive change in 95%+ of the families we work with. We improve mental health and well-being, family resilience, improve self-confidence and self-esteem and reduce social isolation. Children are at the heart of everything we do, and our support is evidenced to improve children’s learning and development, in readiness for school. A recent Quality Assessment Review rated us at 93%.

Post 1: Family Coordinator, Full-time 37 hrs pw

To be responsible for your own case load of volunteers, supporting families across the city and county, with a focus on Melton and Rutland. This is a varied role; you will be involved with the recruitment and training of volunteers and then the ongoing support and supervision of volunteers. You will visit families to assess their support needs and to review their progress. You will also run weekly stay and play family support groups. Previous experience and understanding of working with families, safeguarding and early years development desirable.

Post 2: Family Coordinator (Active Families), Part-time 21 hrs pw

Coordinate all aspects of the project, including visiting families at home to develop bespoke family activity plans, and reviewing plans on a 3 monthly basis.

Recruit and train volunteers to support the project. Support and coordinate Home-Start volunteers to act as Peer Mentors to individual families to help them achieve their activity goals. Work in partnership with the District Council Physical Activity Development Officer to arrange, and promote physical activity taster sessions and other activities.
