Home-Start Northampton

Hours: 30 - 37 hours per week over 4-5 days
Salary: £30,984 - £34373, pro-rata, plus contributory pension (2021/22 NJC spinal points 26-30)

Home-Start Northampton is a local community network of trained volunteers and professional support helping families with young children through their challenging times. We are a well-respected local charity that has been supporting families and children in the Borough of Northampton since 1982.  We are there for parents when they need us the most because childhood can’t wait.

The retirement of our long-standing Scheme Manager has created the exciting opportunity for a highly motivated individual to join Home-Start Northampton’s enthusiastic and supportive team and lead the next stage of our development. 

At the heart of Home-Start Northampton’s work is home visiting volunteer support.  Families struggling with  post-natal depression, isolation, physical health problems, bereavement and many other issues, receive the support of a volunteer who will spend around two hours a week in a family’s home supporting them in the ways they need.

We are looking for someone with the enthusiasm, commitment and experience to manage our dedicated team and volunteers. You will take the lead in developing and strengthening our service locally and promoting wider awareness of Home-Start’s support for children and parents.   You will be responsible for ensuring that our services are delivered to high standards, providing leadership and management of the team and for the day to day management of the scheme.  You will work with and report directly to the Board of Trustees.

Are you:

  • Self-motivated, energetic , enthusiastic and empathetic?  
  • Able to engage with people and develop and sustain relationships at all levels
  • Sharing a strong affinity with the purpose and goals of Home-Start Northampton
  • Experienced with working with families and volunteers
  • Experienced with leading and motivating a team
  • Experienced at managing and delivering projects, ensuring that targets are met 
  • Someone with excellent organisational skills 
  • Able to prepare, present, and analyse statistical information
  • Confident in supporting successful funding applications and managing budgets. 
  • Ideally familiar with the charity/ voluntary sector 

Minimum requirements:

•    Good standard of education to at least A level / NVQ level 4 standard, or equivalent
•    Supervisory or management experience
•    DBS will be required
