Hospices of Hope is an international charity that has been pioneering the development of hospice care in this region since 1991, beginning in Romania and expanding to Serbia, Republic of Moldova and Albania. However, other countries in the region are also needing help.
Hospices of Hope's partner charity in Romania, Hospice Casa Sperantei, has become the leading provider of palliative care services and education in the region. More than 40,000 patients have received care to date. Hospices of Hope has led capital campaigns to successfully build two in-patient hospices and a Centre for children and families affected by life-limiting illnesses in Romania, as well as establishing the first hospice centre in Serbia and setting up mobile teams in all 4 countries. It has campaigned, together with its country partners for improved legislation, local funding and better access to services.
Hospices of Hope's UK operation is based in Sevenoaks, Kent (30 minutes from London), and has a branch office in Edinburgh and a sister charity in New York. The CEO will lead the UK team and should have management experience and a good knowledge of fund-raising, finance and development issues. They will also work with the country partner charities to further their development and initiate new developments in coooperation with the Board of Trustees. Previous experience in an international development charity, a palliative care organisation or similar organisation would be an advantage but not essential.
Hospices of Hope is a non-denominational Christian-based charity network which serves some of the most vulnerable people in South East Europe, regardless of religion, ethnicity or ability to pay (all services are provided free of charge). It has received numerous awards and international recognition for its pioneering work.
The CEO will have a crucial part to play in the next chapter of the charity's development.
