Job Title: Temporary Lead Manager - Floating Support Services

Assignment Duration: 2-3 months

Location: Southwark based office with occasional onsite visits

Hours: Monday to Friday, 09:00-17:00

Pay: £22.00 - £25.00 per hour

About the Role:

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Temporary Lead Manager to oversee our client's Floating support services. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a team of dedicated staff members and ensuring the effective service delivery of support to approximately 270 service users, primarily individuals transitioning from temporary accommodation to private rented housing.

To Apply for this role, you must have an enhanced DBS issued within the last 12 months or one that is on the update service.

Responsibilities:

• Lead and motivate a team of 13 staff members, including Senior Practitioners, Lead Workers, and Support Workers, to achieve the highest standards in service delivery.
• Co-ordinate all activities within the project/team effectively, maintaining organisational standards and meeting targets.
• Develop and implement work plans, operational policies, and procedures to support the mission and objectives of our organisation.
• Manage resources effectively, including financial procedures and controls.
• Collaborate with senior management and stakeholders to optimise service delivery and ensure compliance with contractual requirements.
• Provide coaching, professional development, and line management support to employees, including performance management and supervision.
• Deliver timely and accurate reports and analysis to senior management and funders.
• Represent our organisation at external meetings and maintain positive relationships with commissioners and stakeholders.
• Adapt to changing circumstances and undertake alternative work as necessary to fulfil obligations to service users.

Requirements:

• Experience managing support services for vulnerable populations, including working with challenging behaviour and achieving agreed outcomes.
• Substantial experience in managing and motivating staff during periods of change, ensuring strategic relevance and effective service delivery.
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to establish positive working relationships with service users, colleagues, and external partners.
• Ability to work independently with initiative while being accountable to line management.
• Excellent written, numerical, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively.

- To manage support relating to Companion’s needs regarding their daily living requirements, physical and mental health, safety and personal development.
- To assist and encourage Companions to move into independent accommodation where appropriate
- Ensure that effective Safeguarding systems are in place and maintained, acting as the organisation’s Designated Safeguarding Person, with delegated responsibility for policy development, implementation, and reporting.
- Working in partnership with the Retail Manager, facilitate, encourage, and support companion engagement and training within the social enterprises to ensure they are viable businesses.

As estate manager, your main duties will be to:

This could be you if you have:

• 4 years+ experience of managing staff, and at least 2 years experience of reporting to a board;

• good knowledge of housing law or current issues relating to social housing;

• experience in procuring contracts and managing contractors;

• a proactive, can-do attitude, and an ability to motivate a team;

• excellent numerical and IT literacy, including a record of preparing and scrutinising budgets;

• Either a Level 4 Certificate in Housing, or an undergraduate degree (2:1 or above), and are prepared to enrol in the 1 year online Level 4 course by the Chartered Institute for Housing. 

The TMO is prepared to fund the Level 4 course, and to support a bright manager with a successful track record of delivery to transition into social housing.

As the Administration and Liaison Officer you will be the primary point of contact and the face of the Rugby foodbank for all stakeholders.  You will need to have excellent administration and communication skills as you will be our contact point for volunteers, clients, voucher issuing agencies, food and financial donors. In partnership with the Service Delivery Manager, you will guide the development of the foodbank project including its material resources, financial assets, reputation, partnerships and volunteer body.

Your key skills will be effective communication and the ability to work with all types of people from every kind of background. You will engage with volunteers, clients, Trustees and external agencies such as statutory agencies, churches, schools and businesses to maximise engagement. You will need to be a flexible team member with the ability to balance duties according to the needs and opportunities of the organisation. You will be an outgoing self-starter who is confident working on their own initiative as well as part of a wider team.

Our stakeholders are primarily our volunteers, clients, voucher issuing agencies including statutory and community groups, food and financial donors from the community including churches and other faith groups, schools, other charities and businesses, our Trustees and staff.

We're looking for an inspirational people person to join us as an Assistant Manager and working in our Edinburgh Dalry shop. You will be pivotal in assisting the Shop Manager in leading and empowering a team of volunteers to engage with the local community on Shelter's cause, maximising the contribution of gifts of time from volunteers, the gifts of products from our donors and the gift of income from our customers.

You will assist the Shop Manager in the recruitment, support and development of a strong community focused shop team and empower them to maximise Shelter's income. Representing Shelter in your local community, ensuring that you and your team share your knowledge of Shelter's cause with customers, volunteers, donors and potential Shelter clients will also be important aspects of the role. You will always ensure a safe, clean, bright and happy environment for your team to work in and for your customers to shop in, in turn attracting potential donors and volunteers.

Do you want to make a difference? An exciting opportunity has arisen in our client's Housing Department for someone with great people skills and in-depth housing knowledge to help lead the Housing teams in delivering proactive and customer focussed tenancy and neighbourhood services.

What’s the role?

As part of the Housing Department, you will use your leadership skills to help them deliver a high-quality service, including maximising our rental and service charge income, managing ASB, improving services and delivering a generic day-to-day housing management service to their customers.

The right candidate will need the ability to make decisions and deliver in a fast-paced and busy environment.

In this role you will need to:

• Ensure a high standard of customer service.

You’ll have an excellent grasp of Housing Law and a proven-track record of leading and managing successful teams. You will have a background in Housing Management and knowledge of budget management and partnership working would be an advantage.

Essential:

• Significant experience of managing and developing staff
• Experience of setting and meeting challenging objectives.
• Excellent knowledge of Housing and related legislation, policy and good practice
• Extensive experience of arrears collection and ASB.
• You will need to hold a UK driving licence with access to a suitable vehicle, with insurance cover for business use.
• You will need to maintain a satisfactory basic level DBS check.
