The Exempt Accommodation Support Service is a new project based at our main hub in Digbeth but providing outreach support across a number of locations in the city. We are looking for housing and substance misuse workers to provide flexible, person-centred support to people aged 18 years plus who are homeless, have a history of homelessness or who are at risk of becoming homeless. It will primarily be supporting people living in exempt accommodation who have support needs relating to addiction and who are in active treatment or contemplating treatment.
The aims of this service are to provide additional support to improve access and sustainment of suitable accommodation for people engaging in structured drug and alcohol treatment, to reduce the scale of unmet housing need for this group of clients and to build evidence of housing-related need and effective interventions. The service will provide a range of practical support around finances, health and wellbeing, access to volunteering or training opportunities and integration into local communities as well as supporting continued engagement with treatment and tenancy sustainment.
This post is for 35 hours per week fixed term for one year initially.
This post requires to :-
Provide a person centred service to individuals taking a psychologically informed approach to advice and support ensuring that clients are given choice and control about how their support is delivered.
Assist with practical support such as travel issues, settling into accommodation and addressing any immediate accommodation issues.
Ensure individuals have access to key services, including health care, substance misuse, and wellbeing services.
Manage an active caseload of clients, keeping effective and up to date records and monitoring outcomes through our CRM database system.
To support with timely reporting information regarding visits, support plans and session notes
To work with clients in first step of their recovery pathway, to provide individualised and strengths based support to promote their ongoing engagement in treatment and sustainment of tenancies to support this.
Working alongside our Housing Transitions Team to raise any issues around the standards and quality of exempt accommodation and to work collaboratively with providers to resolve concerns.
Signpost and refer clients into appropriate support services locally or citywide, to ensure they are able to access the support they need to stay safe and to start to live a healthier, happier life.
Build effective, positive rapport with clients, maintaining professional boundaries and fostering trust.
Work alongside and in partnership with other advice hubs and Housing Options teams based at other sites across the city to process referrals quickly and efficiently and to work collaboratively with other agencies and organisations to ensure high quality service delivery.
Support the Team Lead and Service Manager to monitor the take up and impact of service and the client journey, including case studies and data capture.
Work alongside volunteers and other staff teams to provide a safe, inclusive, effective and supportive service.
To assist client in arears such as budgeting and money management, benefits claims and understanding their housing rights and responsibilities.
Ensure safeguarding issues are accurately identified and reported promptly in line with SIFA Fireside’s Safeguarding Vulnerable Adults policy.
Keep up to date with relevant legislation, training and best practice and to work in alignment with the organisational values and in accordance with SIFA Fireside policies and procedures.
Any other duties as reasonably required under the responsibilities of the post and as directed by the Lead and Service Manager
Adopt a flexible approach to working within a multi-disciplinary team.
Working conditions:
There is a requirement to travel locally to accommodation providers or outreach sites. Travel expenses will be paid for any journeys undertaken
