We're seeking a passionate, innovative, and experienced leader to oversee the Tenancy Support Team (TST) North, a vital service providing housing-related support to people living in accommodation across North London.
About the role
As the Head of Service for TST North, you'll be at the forefront of driving positive change and ensuring the smooth operation of SHP’s largest Tenancy Support Service. With a focus on both day-to-day operations and strategic initiatives, you'll play a pivotal role in overseeing specialised projects and ensuring the delivery of high-quality personalised support housing-related and Move-On support.
The Head of Service for TST (North) is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Tenancy Support Team (North) and bespoke projects that support the delivery of the main service. TST North comprises two distinct services funded via the Greater London Authority (GLA) – TST North (main contract), which offers tenancy and Move-on support to 1200 clients housed through the Clearing House Scheme, and TST North PRS which supports 200 clients housed in Private Rented Sector Accommodation.
The Head of TST will hold overall responsibility for motivating and managing the 50+ staff team, ensuring exceptional service delivery, targets are achieved, and clients receive the best possible support to enable them to sustain their tenancies. The Head of TST is required to demonstrate strong commercial awareness, be able to use KPI and outcome data to influence service delivery.
The post holder is required to be agile and dynamic in their approach to engaging and managing the multiple stakeholder relationships across all North London Boroughs, including the development and management of relationships with Private Rented Sector landlords and agents to ensure that Move-on targets are achieved. There is a strong focus on the development of processes, policies, and procedures that promote the key ambitions of the service and respond to changes in service delivery, either due to shifting funding priorities or the launch of new bespoke projects.
About you
- Experience in leading large and dispersed teams in either supported housing, advice, homelessness, or other relevant environment.
- Ability to manage multiple service priorities and commissioner/external stakeholders' demands and to remain motivated in a demanding and target-driven role.
- Experience in producing, analysing, and interpreting complex reports and statistics for use in service monitoring or planning.
- A strong understanding of the techniques aims and objectives of working with street homeless people, including those facing multiple disadvantages.
- An enthusiasm and well-developed skill for placing service users at the heart of service delivery and developing services based on their experience.
- Experience of financial planning for service delivery; budgetary responsibility and control. Wide-ranging knowledge of housing pathways and Move-on routes for people moving from housing with support to independence (hostels, Private Rented Sector, and social housing).

About the role
Title: Housing Access Officer - known internally as Housing Procurement Officer
Location: London; Up to two days working from home may be considered in line with Crisis’ hybrid policy
You’ll join our London Wide Services at an exciting time, helping to deliver an outstanding pan London property access service across the private and social rented sector and contributing to the delivery of Housing First. Working alongside a variety of services across the organisation, you will identify housing opportunities, negotiate new partnerships, nurture existing relationships, and strive to establish routes into sustainable housing for people who have experienced homelessness by working with Landlords across London.
It’s a role requiring a creative approach and strong negotiation skills as you partner with both Landlords and Crisis’ Client Services. You will be responsible for bringing two sectors together and ensuring the interest of everyone involved are looked after, supporting the creation of tenancies that end people’s homelessness. The role is pan London, and you will work collaboratively with our 3 London services to ensure tenants receive the support they need to sustain their homes. There is scope for development of the role and plenty of support. It’s a fantastic opportunity!
Crisis is also in the process of establishing a brand new lettings agency, in partnership with Homes for Good – Scotland’s award winning social enterprise letting agency. The new lettings agency will launch in early 2024 and we envisage the housing access roles working closely with the new business.
About you
Understanding of housing law is essential along with the ability to develop, build and maintain key relationships.
Crisis are looking for a talented, motivated individual to join the Housing Access Team in London who wants to use their skills and experience working with landlords in the private sector, accessing accommodation to help end homelessness for the people we support.
With in-depth knowledge of the housing market in London, its unique challenges and opportunities and possessing excellent interpersonal skills which will support them to negotiate with landlords and access good quality affordable accommodation for our members. Thorough understanding of landlord’s legal responsibilities is essential coupled with insight into the needs of people experiencing homelessness and the challenges and stigma they face accessing good quality affordable accommodation.

Housing Tenancy Officer

As an organisation that plans to grow, we are building a new Housing Management team and are looking for a Housing Tenancy Officer to be part of the team.
The role
The successful Housing Tenancy Officer will carry out a variety of housing management tasks included but not limited to: Supporting with the voids and lettings process, Managing rent arrears with a focus on income maximisation, Working with tenants to ensure they are involved in shaping our services, General tenancy and estate management, Managing day to day repairs, cyclical maintenance and service contracts and Supporting the Senior Housing Manager with longer term asset management planning.
We offer flexibility in how you get your work done, whether that is working from Head Office, being out at the schemes, to occasional working from home. The post is 35 hours flexible working across Monday to Friday with occasional out of hours work.
About You
We are looking for someone with a genuine interest and passion for working to improve the quality of our residents’ lives. You need to be enthusiastic and show capability and ownership to develop in the role. You will also need to have excellent communication skills, previous experience with front facing customer service/administrative work in a housing service, excellent IT skills – proficient with Microsoft packages and the ability to learn new systems quickly, together with a positive can-do and flexible attitude to work.

About CARIS Families
CARIS Families is a small, frontline charity that supports families who are homeless and living in overcrowded multi-occupant hostels in the London Boroughs of Hackney and Camden. Life in temporary accommodation hostels entrenches children and their parents in poverty and disadvantage. Families suffer from acute overcrowding, inadequate basic facilities and a permanent sense of unsafety. The nature of hostel life isolates people from their support networks, decimates their physical and mental health and becomes an adverse life experience in itself for families already suffering the trauma of having become homeless.
CARIS Families exists to provide early intervention to mitigate the worst effects of hostel life and homelessness for children and parents in our four target hostels. We do this by providing hands-on play, learning and social activities to help children meet their potential, improve families’ wellbeing and build their support network. We provide a holistic family support service that case-works with each family individually to reduce financial and other pressures on them as they wait for a permanent home. We also use our data and learned experiences about temporary accommodation to join campaigns for reform to temporary accommodation policy and practice, both locally and nationally.
We have just received funding to employ a dedicated Housing Rights Manager for the next two years. This is an exciting addition to our team, as it will be our first staff member dedicated to helping our homeless families with their housing case. The housing system is notoriously opaque: families tell us it can be a hopeless minefield to navigate independently and that they often can’t access meaningful help with it, resulting in years-long hostel stays. Our Housing Rights Manager will step into the gap and work with families on an individual basis to gain the information and support they need to progress their housing case and expedite their move-on into a suitable home.
About the role
Our Housing Rights Manager will be a key member of our Family Support Service. They will manage a weekly drop-in clinic from within the hostels where they will assess new housing cases and develop a support plan with families. They will manage a full housing caseload of housing support work, collaborating with relevant local groups, local authority partners and law centres to progress families’ housing cases. They will learn from the barriers families tell us they face, develop CARIS Families’ housing advice service in response and use these learnings to contribute to campaigns for reform to temporary accommodation practices and policies locally and nationally.
In their first year, the Housing Rights Manager will work in partnership with housing solicitors at Shelter to write a Housing Information and Rights handbook tailored to the processes of our target boroughs. The handbook will aim to demystify the temporary accommodation system in our two boroughs, explain residents’ legal rights and help them understand their options. It will form a key part of the support we can offer and allow us to reach many more families in hostels than our small staff team can individually case-work with.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a committed staff team of just 5, working in a person-centred and community-minded way to make a real difference to families on the frontline of inner-London’s housing crisis.

Care Ashore are seeking their next Chief Executive Officer to lead the charity into an exciting phase of growth and beyond.
The Chief Executive role will enable and lead their team to ensure the charity delivers an excellent supported housing and welfare service to current and future beneficiaries, in line with its values, vision, mission and strategy.

What we can offer you:

This is a senior, and brand-new role to Refugees at Home. We’re looking for someone with demonstrable experience of helping people find permanent accommodation to come into our team to assist our guests directly and upskill colleagues across the organisation to assist our guests to move on from hosting.
We have ambitious plans to increase the number of guests we host, but this is only going to be possible if we provide ways in which guests can move on from their temporary hosting placements. With increasing numbers of housing providers and advice services being overwhelmed, we plan to develop our own support for our guests who self-refer into Refugees at Home.
The new Housing and Move-on Manager will be able to fully shape the service we offer, working closely with our Placement Team Manager to understand the needs and challenges of our guests. You’ll be working with Placement Coordinators to help them understand and create realistic move on plans for our guests.
You will be building excellent relationships with housing and hostel accommodation providers across the UK to find new ways of finding ongoing accommodation for our guests. You’ll use your knowledge and experience of statutory housing duties to ensure those we host who are entitled to support receive it. You’ll be working with guests and our Placement team to upskill them on avenues to privately renting accommodation.
This is likely to be a role which changes over time, so we are looking for someone ready for this, bringing innovative solutions so that we can ensure that hosting remains a temporary stop gap for refugees.
Our work is underpinned by trauma-informed working, and you will be continuing this through your work with guests.
