The End Violence Against Women Coalition (EVAW) is looking for a Public Affairs Officer to help drive forward our campaigning to end violence against women in all its forms.

The last few years have seen a huge increase in awareness of violence against women and girls, and support for our work. With this crucial human rights issue on the public and political agenda like never before, now is the time to disrupt the status quo and lay the foundations for a different world. 

ABOUT THE ROLE

EVAW’s public affairs officer will help persuade policy makers and stakeholders to prioritise tackling violence against women and girls (VAWG) and develop policy and practice that is effective, inclusive and rooted in equalities and human rights.

Typical tasks for this job might include reviewing and synthesising political speeches and debates, drafting briefings for MPs and other stakeholders and supporting with the organisation of stakeholder events such as parliamentary and party conference meetings.  

Candidates are likely to have some experience in public affairs or policy work on VAWG or a related field connected to social justice, human rights and equalities.  and will be seeking an opportunity to work in a highly impactful, agile and dynamic feminist organisation.

A background in VAWG will of course be an asset, but regardless you’ll need to show us you can keep abreast of key political developments, identify challenges and opportunities to pursue an organisation’s aims, and work to influence key decision-makers in a given field. The role

Our recent growth and ambitious plans for the future mean that RLS needs to raise more sustainable funding than ever before. The new Fundraising Officer role will be central to this, playing a key role in the future of the organisation.

Job Description

Communication, Outreach, and Advocacy

• Streamline internal project communications with the partner cohort and other key stakeholders to enhance efficiency and clarity of messaging. 
• Support the design and implementation of communication strategies and advocacy tools, including developing advocacy campaigns and communication materials.
• Work with the partner cohort to identify key advocacy opportunities and relevant forums through which to promote the rights and needs of marginalised communities in Afghanistan.
• Work with partners to engage with policymakers, influencers, and advocacy networks to raise awareness of the project’s advocacy agenda and influence policy direction. 
• Create engaging and informative content for various communication channels, such as newsletters and blogs, highlighting the project’s impact and success stories. Information Exchange and Knowledge Sharing

• Take an active part in coordination meetings to foster internal cohesion and build strong relationships with the partner cohort and other external stakeholders.

Person specification

Hamrah comprises a small and dedicated remote team. The person who fills this post should feel comfortable working independently in a remote setting and accepting a high level of responsibility for the project’s success. We are looking for someone with the following skills and experience:

Required

• A passion for social impact, with a particular focus on supporting marginalised communities.
• Demonstrated relevant work experience and proven track record of achievement in the field of organisational development and capacity building, preferably in the Global South.

About the position

The successful candidate will be a finance professional with experience of working in an accounts payable function in an international environment. The successful candidate will come either from a similar position in another charity or from industry, looking to move into the international charity sector. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, time management, attention to detail, flexibility and tenacity are essential requirements of the post-holder as these will enable the successful candidate to liaise with both with finance and non-finance staff around the world as well as helping the finance team to maintain robust financial systems and processes. The Finance Officer will provide all staff with day-to-day advice and support on finance matters to ensure that there is good understanding of and compliance with financial controls and processes. The Finance Officer will lead on accounts payable, including all cash advances and staff expenses both in the UK and for staff and consultants overseas. The Finance Officer will also provide support for the Financial Accountant in the preparation of monthly balance sheet reconciliation; bank and treasury management; and the production of schedules required in relation to the year-end statutory accounts.

Responsibilities

Accounts payable

• Preparing weekly payments runs within the accounting system (Microsoft Business Central) in accordance with the agreed timetable and financial procedures, ensuring correct coding of all costs and checking completeness and accuracy of all supporting documentation;

• Setting up all payments for release via online banking by management;

• Checking all staff and consultant expense claims and monthly credit card returns, including reconciliation of any staff advances;

• Acting as a point of contact for all accounts payable queries;

• Maintaining a strong control environment, ensuring accounting records are complete and accurate; and

• Assisting on process and systems improvements which lead to more effective financial control;

• Monitoring Expensify and providing training to new users as required.

Financial accounting

• Ensure all transactions are processed accurately within the accounting system (Microsoft Business Central) – posting adjustments where necessary

• Reconcile all bank and credit card accounts

• Assist the Financial Accountant with balance sheets reconciliations as needed

• Assist the Financial Accountant with the maintenance of the fixed asset register and inventory

• Assist the Head of Finance and the Financial Accountant to maintain the organisational accounting system including the development of new systems and processes

• Help generate supporting schedules required in relation to the year-end statutory accounts and audits

Banking and treasury management

• Provide administrative support in relation to all bank accounts;

• Resolve queries from suppliers, funders and other external customers; and

• Advise local staff, consultants and partners on financial matters and provide support as required.

ROLE DETAILS 

Standing Voice is looking for an experienced Fundraising Manager based in or near London to join our UK team. This is an exciting and challenging role in a creative and focused working environment, within an organisation with multiple programmes and funding streams across 3 countries. This position suits an ambitious and experienced fundraiser, equipped with excellent written and oral communication skills and a depth of donor management experience. 

The successful candidate will report to the Executive Director and be tasked with advancing & implementing Standing Voice’s Fundraising Strategy including writing grants proposals; diversifying & scaling-up the organisation’s income streams; and managing donor relations and reporting. As well as working alongside UK fundraising, programmes and finance colleagues, the Fundraising Manager will work directly with our teams in Tanzania and Malawi to design and generate project proposals.

BACKGROUND 

The Helen Bamber Foundation is a human rights organisation with an international reputation for providing medical consultation, therapeutic care, legal protection, and practical support to survivors of trafficking and torture.  We are a team of therapists, doctors, lawyers, caseworkers and administrators who help men, women and children recover from the emotional and physical damage they have suffered because of torture, human trafficking, or other forms of cruelty.

OVERVIEW OF THE ROLE 

As  Psychotherapist within the Helen Bamber Foundation, you will work alongside our current Senior Psychotherapist and be responsible for supporting the Head of Therapies and the Team Manager in providing a comprehensive range of therapeutic interventions to clients of the Helen Bamber Foundation.

In addition to providing psychotherapy, stabilization, psychoeducation, and trauma focused therapy, this role will include delivery of psychological assessments for both medico-legal and clinical purposes, as well as delivery of clinical supervision to staff from non-clinical backgrounds who nonetheless have significant client contact, and supervision of assistant psychologists. As you develop in the role you will also have opportunities to contribute to the on-going development of the service and at times, the role may include input into policy, research and fundraising and delivery of consultancy and training. 

We are looking for someone who is committed to working therapeutically with individuals who have experienced human rights abuses and who have developed trauma spectrum disorders as a result. The successful applicant will ideally have proven experience in working therapeutically with this client group, have a passion for human rights work beyond the individual client work, and a desire to contribute to effecting change at a policy level.  This role requires the ability to be with the complex and sometimes harrowing details of a client’s experience, and to react and respond creatively and appropriately to their needs.Additionally, you will be knowledgeable and experienced in consultation and assessment including risk management, and have competence, or a commitment to receiving training, in at least one model of trauma therapy such as NET or EMDR.

London Gypsies and Travellers (LGT) is an organisation which challenges social exclusion and discrimination, working for change in partnership with Gypsies and Travellers. We work with families across London Boroughs, living on council caravan sites, roadside camps, with those living in bricks and mortar housing, and those experiencing homelessness. We work together with Gypsies and Travellers to build the capacity of individuals and their communities to influence the decisions that affect their lives through our front-line support services, growing youth mentoring programme, community development projects, campaigns and policy work. Job purpose

This role is pivotal in ensuring the financial sustainability and integrity of LGT, developing resilient foundations for our front-line services, community development, policy and campaigns work to grow in scale and impact.

Working closely with the CEO, Project and Team Leads, you’ll lead all aspects of financial management from budgeting, accounting and compliance, financial management of grants, to reporting to the Finance Committee to support the Board of Trustees and leadership with financial planning and decision making. Finance is the core of the role, however you’ll also use your data management and organisation skills to help us maintain and develop our workflow and data management systems and processes, and oversee other core operational functions delivered by our Business Operations Administrator.

We are a small, collaborative and committed team, with ambitious plans to grow the impact of our work and to diversify and grow our income in the coming years. As a newly created role, sitting within our senior leadership team and reporting to the CEO, there’s huge scope to contribute your experience and ideas to the strategic and operational development of the organisation - and invest in your own professional development too. Role responsibilities

1. Financial leadership: Strategic finance leadership including financial modelling, meeting reserves targets, contributing to long term funding strategy, income diversification and risk management.

2. Budget management: Lead timely and detailed budget setting, monitoring and reporting across the organisation including management accounts.

3. Finance systems: Manage and develop the end-to-end finance system including day to day bookkeeping processes for the organisation, keeping track of income and outgoings, reconciliations and maintaining efficient systems and processes.

4. Banking and payments: Supervise outsourced payroll and pensions provider, administer internal payments processing and maintain all relevant banking administration and other relevant online accounts.

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience

Essential

1. Experience of working in a finance management role in a charity or social impact-driven context.

2. Ability to operate strategically, proactively flagging and acting on opportunities and risks for the organisation.

3. Experience of delivering and managing all core finance and accounting processes to support budgeting, reporting which supports sound financial management and decision making.

4. Experience of financial management for grants and restricted funds, including drafting project budgets and financial reporting.

5. Experience of identifying and implementing improvements to financial controls, processes and operational systems.

6. Experience of short and longer-term financial planning to support financial resilience building.

7. Good Excel skills to support full cost recovery and income diversification strategies.

Free Tibet is a small but effective campaign organisation based in south London. We’re looking for a Fundraising Manager who can transform our routine fundraising and lead expert strategies for income generation. This role is best suited to an experienced solo fundraiser who is confident in managing multiple streams of income, but we welcome applications from any fundraiser with a diverse skillset and collaborative way of working.

We are currently implementing a pay grading system at Free Tibet, offering increases with each year of service. The salary for this position starts at £40,000.

Job Description

Fundraising

• Oversee all income-generation activity across Free Tibet and Tibet Watch. Ensure continuous improvement and innovation and an appropriate balance of fundraising activity across all streams. Current streams include postal appeals, online appeals, and the Free Tibet online shop.
• Manage applications for grant funding on behalf of both Free Tibet and Tibet Watch, working with the Fundraising Officer to build a strong portfolio of five and six-figure grants and steward them for renewal.
• Lead on the recruitment and retention of donors, especially Major Donors, and redevelop supporter journeys and stewardship programs.
• Evaluate new ideas for income generation and strategies for implementation, especially corporate and challenge events / community fundraising.
• Impact reporting of fundraising activity and the performance of quarterly appeals, with a view to improve internal processes for greater income innovation and ROI.
• Liaise with the Free Tibet Campaigns & Research Teams to ensure that campaigning, digital and fundraising activities are seamlessly coordinated.
• Managing relationships with third party agencies, like mailing services and digital mobilisation agencies, making sure projects are delivered on time, on budget and to the highest standard.
• Ensure that our new Client Relationship Management (CRM) system, Raiser’s Edge NXT, is used effectively and to its full potential.
• Take a supporter-facing role in managing relationships with Major Donors, leading by example in securing mission-critical income.
• When needed, providing on-the-ground support for direct marketing, including copywriting and editing.

Leadership & Management

• Line manage the Fundraising Team, which currently consists of a full-time Fundraising Officer, part-time Administrative Assistant, and part-time Supporter Care & Shop Officer, nurturing their professional development and working collaboratively to produce fundraising projects.
• Act as a leader within the organisation, representing staff to the board and executive committee where appropriate.
• Work with the Finance and HR manager to monitor expenditure against budget and prepare regular reports on expenditure and projected income for the Free Tibet and Tibet Watch boards.
• Develop annual and project-specific Fundraising Strategies, reporting on appropriate indicators.

General Responsibilities

• Participating in regular team meetings.
• Participate in events and actions as required, with protest attendance highly encouraged.
• Ensure that volunteers working with your team are managed appropriately.
• Participating in monthly finance/fundraising meetings.
• Provide regular fundraising reports for the FT-TW Boards and Head of Campaigns.

Person Specification

Essential

• Proven ability to look at the big picture of an organisation’s fundraising and prioritise what needs particular attention.
• Proven track record of delivering income across one or more of following income streams:
  • Individual Giving: postal appeals, online appeals; emergency appeals; matched giving campaigns.
  • Major Donor Fundraising: soliciting and stewarding donations from HNWIs; prospects research; Major Donor recruitment.
  • Trusts and Foundations: soliciting and stewarding major grant
• Digital fluency with a deep understanding of how this relates to fundraising.
• Line management of other fundraisers, especially with agile working and diverse skill sets.
• Experience of overseeing the development of team members.
• Excellent knowledge of proper practice in fundraising data and compliance, especially with reference to The Code of Fundraising Practice and GDPR principles.
• Confident reporting directly to the Board of Trustees and representing staff interests.
• Commitment to Free Tibet’s mission.

Desirable

• Experience of working in a high intensity environment, working collaboratively and skillfully in response to fast-moving developments in global news.
• Personal achievement/s securing five or six-figure grants, especially for research or human rights projects.
• Experience of managing lead generation campaigns at both a strategist and practitioner level, especially Facebook ads, with past examples of success.
• Experience using RENXT, Mailchimp, and digital tools (e.g. Engaging Networks or Impact Stack).

ABOUT ASYLUM AID

For over thirty years, Asylum Aid has been providing legal representation to some of the most vulnerable people seeking asylum. We have built an expert service, delivering vital and life-saving services in some of the most complex legal cases, with a particular speciality working with unaccompanied children, Survivors of trafficking, torture or other forms of human cruelty,  and stateless people. Our vision is that all those in need of protection from persecution and other forms of human cruelty in the UK can obtain it, and are treated fairly and with dignity.

ABOUT THE ROLE

As Children and Young People’s Solicitor and Senior Caseworker at Asylum Aid, you will primarily work with unaccompanied asylum-seeking child (UASC) and young people (under 25), providing end to end representation on their asylum, human rights and trafficking claims. You may also undertake age dispute challenges and other judicial review work on behalf of your clients. You will combine this work, which will account for approximately 70% of your time, with conducting other immigration matters, including adult asylum claims, family reunion applications and statelessness applications. You will also have the opportunity to contribute to the wider work of the Asylum Aid team, delivering high quality legal services on the full range of protection and trafficking issues that affect migrants, refugees, and asylum seekers. You will conduct asylum casework under legal aid funding, with a specialist focus on representing unaccompanied asylum-seeking children and young people, and contribute to policy and strategic legal work to promote the rights of children and young people in the asylum system. 

 You will be a qualified solicitor or Immigration caseworker with IAAS Level 2/Senior Caseworker accreditation and have significant experience in publicly funded immigration work under a Legal Aid Agency Contract. You should have, or be able to obtain, Level 2 Children Safeguarding. 

As is the nature of this sector, the role will be exposed to a high volume of traumatic and distressing material and, whilst they will be supported by the Asylum Aid Director, supervisors and the surrounding team, they should also be able to demonstrate knowledge of good self-care principles in an intense work environment.

The Public Affairs and Policy Manager will play a crucial role in helping to determine and shape TMs policy goals and how best to achieve them. Working closely and collaboratively with colleagues from across the organisation, and in close consultation with the TMs internal and external stakeholder groups and networks you will develop policy, research and campaigning projects to meet the organisations strategic objectives.  You will be able to understand complex policy issues, recognise their relevance to the Traveller Movement and identify policy solutions. You will know how to generate and analyse data and bring issues to life by drawing out the lived experience of people from Romani (Gypsy), Roma and Irish Traveller communities 

You will led develop and sustain a small committed team of two policy and campaign officers to produce policy, research and campaigning activities.  You will lead TMs Public relations and influencing work developing relationships with policy makers, partner organisations, parliamentarians and the media. You will ensure co-production and the voice and lived experiences ethnic Romani (Gypsy), Traveller and Roma is central to all our engagement and influencing work.
