A prestigious humanitarian Not for Profit organisation is recruiting a Finance Business Partner to take on a key role against the backdrop of a transformation programme. As the Finance Business Partner you will be responsible for the following duties:

• You will bring valuable experience, financial and business acumen that will drive the delivery of the long-term plan
• Working closely with the Head of finance and other key stakeholders, you will support the business with understanding its risks, monitor and track progress against plan, understand factors driving business results, build relationships with managers and provide business insight and advice. You will also lead on finance systems and process transformation projects
• Analyse and investigate financial performance for all business areas to identify areas of weakness
• Provide commercial financial advice and guidance tailored to the individual needs of stakeholders that enables them to deliver their business and financial objectives
• Develop and operate appropriate financial models and tools to support recommendations of pricing for products and services to achieve financial goals

This is an exciting opportunity for the right individual. The successful candidate will be fully qualified (ACA/ACCA/CIMA/CIPFA) with previous experience gained in audit, the charity, commercial or wider 
public sector. You will have robust technical skills and be highly organised. We are looking for someone who is eager to learn, strong analytical skills, excellent communication, financial modelling, and managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Experience. We are looking for an experienced Business Development and Advisory Manager to join our committed team, who will hit the ground running.

Key tasks and responsibilities:

• You will manage and grow Stronger Together’s business relations in a variety of sectors, both in the UK and globally to generate funding and drive impact. This includes taking the lead in developing project proposals for clients.

• You will deliver interactive training workshops and deliver premium quality services to businesses to support them to embed responsible recruitment and fair work and tackle modern slavery in their operations and supply chains.

• You will project manage all client projects from start to finish.

The role is diverse with opportunities to generate new funding to drive impact, project manage and implement training and activity with a variety of businesses, and to try out new ideas. You will work remotely, but in close cooperation with the Head of Business Development, and rest of our growing team across the world. 

Who you are:

• An experienced professional with an in-depth understanding of and subject matter expertise on working with businesses on responsible recruitment, ethical labour practices and modern slavery, and significant experience in business engagement/developing and managing senior management corporate sponsor relations (min. 5 years’ experience).

• The ideal candidate should have experience in a business development role, a track record in building and developing business relations, and strong experience of giving presentations, delivering pitches and closing deals.

• Experienced in maintaining and developing corporate sponsor relations including writing client and grant proposals.

• An excellent trainer, with experience of delivering training to businesses.

• A strong project manager and great organiser, with the ability to set and meet demanding targets and deadlines, and to hold others accountable to those.

• A professional who has worked with or within the construction, manufacturing, consumer goods, apparel, finance or care sector on responsible business behaviour.

• An excellent communicator, both verbally and in writing, with experience of developing and building new successful working relationships with a range of stakeholders, as well as confidence in representing the organisation professionally at a variety of events.

• A motivated and enthusiastic worker, able to work independently and with remote colleagues/stakeholders.

• Someone with a good eye for detail, whilst retaining sight of the bigger picture.

About the role

With an income of over 31 million pounds last year, the work of our Finance Team is vital in supporting the wider organisation and enabling us to put our funds to the best possible use.

Reporting to the Head of Finance, and with management responsibly for a team of five, you will ensure all financial information, systems and controls are of the highest integrity and that we remain compliant with all finance related legislation and best practice. You will oversee the processing of income and expenditure, seeking efficiencies and ensuring our processes support compliance with our policies. You will collaborate and build relationships with teams across the organisation, advising both finance and non-finance staff on taxation and other technical issues, and developing finance skills and confidence across the organisation.

You will take primary responsibility for producing our annual accounts and other statutory returns. You will lead relationships with a range of external stakeholders, including auditors, tax advisers and our bankers.

About the role

As CEO, you'll support us through a new stage in our development. We're operating in a fluid political environment and so our new leader needs to be confident to work in a political setting while also having the skills and experience to run an organisation like ours.

You'll take ultimate responsibility for our campaign to achieve Proportional Representation in the House of Commons. You will:

• as leader of the campaign, be primarily responsible for building the popular and political momentum needed to secure this seismic reform;
• as leader of the organisation, be primarily responsible for defining and executing MVM’s strategy, while ensuring its good financial health and legal and regulatory compliance; and
• as leader to our staff and volunteer team, be primarily responsible for providing clarity of direction while ensuring the organisation maintains a collaborative, empowering and inspiring culture.

You will:

• lead the UK campaign for Proportional Representation;
• ensure MVM has a clear external brand, with consistent messages, effective and emotive arguments, and impactful use of evidence;
• be a spokesperson for the organisation on a variety of public platforms including national media and at key MVM events;
• create and strengthen relationships with key stakeholders;
• lead on development of MVM's post-election strategic plan;
• line manage and delegate responsibilities to staff, as appropriate;

Medical Aid for Palestinians (MAP) works for the health and dignity of Palestinians living under occupation and as refugees. MAP is the leading UK charity delivering health and medical care to those worst affected by conflict, occupation, and displacement, in the occupied Palestinian territory and Palestinian refugee camps of Lebanon.

The Head of Institutional Funding role is based in the Programmes Team, line managing the IF team and close cooperation with programme funding colleagues in Gaza, West Bank and Lebanon. The role has a broad remit covering developing and formalising framework agreements, programme design, proposal development and reports (narrative and financial), scoping and relationship development with relevant institutional donors. The role will also focus on prospect research and development. The role is based in London, with strong relationships to our projects and partners in Lebanon, the West Bank and Gaza.

Duties and key rsponsibilities

1. Lead the development and delivery of and institutional funding strategy which meets the needs of MAP to meet increasing need and grow sustainably.

2. Identify and develop relationships with a portfolio of institutional donors such as UN agencies, FCDO, SIDA, Irish Aid etc.

3. Lead the development of compelling project and programme proposals and budgets for MAP’s programmes in Gaza, the West Bank and Lebanon, working closely with programme teams.

4. Ensure that MAP meets all the contractual, compliance and reporting requirements of institutional funded programmes.

Institutional donor portfolio and pipeline development

1. Research and identify institutional donors who align with MAP’s programme funding priorities.

2. Lead the development of an institutional funding strategy which meets MAP’s programme ambitions and will support sustained growth and impact.

3. Lead the delivery of the institutional funding strategy including donor engagement plans, pipeline management, and compliance.

4. Lead the stewardship and relationship management of institutional donors

5. Develop and manage an institutional funding pipeline working closely with programme and fundraising colleagues

6. Monitors trends in institutional donor funding in the Middle East and MAP programme priority areas

Business development

1. Lead the development of proposals (including theory of change, logical frameworks etc. as required) and budgets to Institutional donors drawing on programme plans and in close collaboration with programme colleagues, senior management and finance.

2. Identify and propose funding and collaboration/consortiums opportunities which match MAP programme plans and ambitions

3. Scope and lead on the development of framework agreements with institutional donors, such as registering with the DEC, registering under 503 (c) for USAID grants and FPA with the European Commission.

Grants management

1. Ensure agreements, contract negotiations and compliance, including liaison with colleagues to ensure due diligence requirements are fulfilled prior to contracts being signed.

2. Ensure MAP manages all grants in line with contractual obligations throughout the project cycle

3. Provide training and advice to programme teams to ensure excellence in grants management for all institutional funded projects

4. Ensure communication with institutional donors is timely and relevant

5. Problem solve and trouble shoot where issues and challenges arise with grant management.

General Management

1. Manage the Institutional Funding Team

2. Report against agreed KPIs, financial targets and annual objectives.

3. Ensure IF team is updated and trained on main thematic areas of MAP’s work.

Person Specification

Essential

1. Significant experience of securing grants from a range of institutional donors, including grants specific to emergency response, relief and rehabilitation projects and liaising with donors such as DEC and ECHO.

2. Significant experience of research, identifying and monitoring trends in institutional and humanitarian funding and donors

3. Demonstrable success of developing and securing institutional donor funding at circa £10million a year through compelling programme and project proposals and budgets

4. Demonstrable ability to manage institutional funded projects and grants in line with all contractual and compliance donor and regulatory requirements throughout the project cycle.

5. Experience of working in an INGO, preferably with a focus on humanitarian and/or Middle East

6. Experience of building or managing a funding pipeline

7. Experience of working collaboratively with programmes teams in different locations
